Touhou 8 - Imperishable Night - Perfect Stage 4B Lunatic

A run of Imperishable Night's stage 4B without dying or bombing.
I consider stage 4 to be one of the hardest stages in the main game.
Stage 5 is a cakewalk compared to the previous two stages, the only real hard part about that stage is Tewi. Stage 6 is a different story however, seeing as Kaguya is the hardest final boss in the series and Eirin is just plain annoying.
Midboss Marisa in this stage is harder than boss marisa. Midboss Marisa has a few very difficult attacks. These include Asteroid Belt and her second garbage nonspell. Luckely the latter is static and can be micro memorized. So is her opener by the way. Her second card is also great for clipdeath rage.
The only difficult attack boss Marisa really has is her opener. Which I would go as far as to say it's even more garbage than her second noncard. Unpredictable bullets, this is a GREAT idea for a game where you have to determine where bullets are going in order to dodge them!
Marisa also has the easiest last spell in the game.
This video is also to forever prove that Marisa is easier than Reimu. (at least on lunatic)

Stage 5 is hard, some of Reisen's spells are easy but it'll catch you up guard if you don't focus on the bullets movements, kinda like focusing on yourself while your focusing on the bullets, which makes it harder, plus tewi's ultra mega diagonal tense bullet shots makes it so that your not getting away that easily

I saw a comment on Marisa’s boss fight theme video saying “In a world with convoluted flashy attacks, it’s impossible not to empathize with the girl who chooses a big fuck off laser as her signature attack,” and honestly I 100% agree with that. If I lived in the Touhou world I would also pick something that’s just straight up powerful over something tricky and flashy. Also Marisa’s personality just resonates with a bunch of people, myself included. She’s an underdog. She’s just a human with no spiritual powers that give her strength like Reimu. In so many regards she shouldn’t even stand a chance in a world where so many of the people around you are practically invincible and can basically count as gods, but thanks to the spell card rules Marisa is able to show she’s actually powerful. I mean really, in this fight you can just feel it in the atmosphere that she wants to win and is giving it all to prove to her best friend Reimu that she is a powerful witch. Marisa is a rock solid character with fun powers, neat design, and a great personality.

Ok so I’m pretty new to Touhou (as far as IN goes I’m pretty close to a normal difficulty 1cc, I can get to stage 6 but then choke), I can appreciate how the game is always hard but fair. Like it’s pretty much all skill with how fast you can process the patterns on screen and react accordingly. I honestly think Marisa breaks that rule with Master Spark. The giant fuck-off laser really isn’t the problem. The fact that her lasers for one, greatly brighten the area around them, making near by projectiles significantly harder to see, and two, cause fucking screenshake, is honestly stupid as hell and imo rather unfair. Update: Bout a month ago, I got the 1cc and I beat mokou a week or 2 later, lets fucking goooooo

The Good Bullet Dodger Uhm, considering you have a bajillion resources in practice mode... It's not really a good indicator of difficulty if you need like 5 lives to beat Lunatic Marisa. You'd fail on stage 5 because of the gimmicky-ness of it all and the fact stage 5's stage portion isn't a joke, unlike stage 4. But once you get to the point a lunatic 1cc is possible and you can actually do decent, you begin to see why he considers Marisa, Reimu, Keine and Kaguya much harder then say Reisen. It's because they ARE - Reisen is lolgimmicks with easy nonspells, everyone else... isn't.
