Some of my earliest gaming memories were through a java phone, so seeing touhou games in that device is extremely cool. The developer is a madman for making whole games for this.

java phones were literally my first exposure to video games, touhou on there is pretty neat i think i still have my old analog phone kicking around somewhere, just out of battery. gonna charge it and see if i can get these games to work there for the full experience.

as a Java phone kid, i love seeing what developers can squeeze out of these little things, and it warms my heart to see projects like this out there! Shinmadan and its derivatives are truly impressive in pretty much every way possible.

oh hey I remember my final project in a mobile game development class that used java was a touhou game, but it was extremely basic compared to this. i think it was 2010 exactly too. It's cool to see what was actually possible with more time/skill/people.

cool, I wish there were more touhou games on smartphones. Only like 2 shmup games on the google playstore. Maybe you should make a video on that if you havent already.

My only memory of a flip phone game was a trial version of Tetris on my Mom's old flip phone. It kicked you out after a loss or five minutes, but you could just immediately go back in.

There's a certain layer here... I think these games are not only Java-made, they were also made specifically for the Japanese flipphones that had their own unique infrastructure and hardware, which never had an analogue anywhere else... This meant that a lot of games made on these phones remained forever locked to these systems, if not deliberately ported (which was exceedingly rare)

Aren't there two on Android ? One's a boss rush and the other one's a danmaku collection iirc
@fcantil5 ай бұрын
@@Chrys4l1s I mean yeah, there are a couple I suppose. I've really only tried BakaSTG, which is the danmaku collection one. There is ThousandNightAnamnesis and Touhou Madouroku. I know there was another one that was in landscape mode, and had button on the right side of the screen.
