What’s with these almost dating sim-esque character intros? They’re so utterly at odds with the tone Touhou (at least the official stuff) normally goes with. Also, slight nitpick, but didn’t she get sealed because she was secretly aiding youkai, despite claiming to be a hunter? When her true actions and beliefs were uncovered, that’s when humans turned against her. They weren’t scared of her powers per se (obviously if she’s deemed as on the “wrong side” this becomes and issue); it’s always her beliefs that drive people to oppose her. I could be wrong, but that’s the gist I’ve gotten from what I know of her background story. Then again, how to accurately portray that in a 30 second character ad I guess...

Yes, she's sealed in Makai. You meet her followers en route to the Makai to unseal Byakuren, this is the event of Undefined Fantastic Object.

Well, this is a fangame :v And a character intro is only for you to know their personality, not they backstory :v In this game, the characters you "collect" is "your friend" so I guess that explains the "dating sim -like"

This is directly contrary to what’s said in official works like Symposium of Post-Mysticism, which talk more of her beliefs being the reason she was feared by humans. It’s also her beliefs that cause the heroine to attack her in UFO; she’s not done anything wrong and has just been released, but Reimu attacks her because her views are antithetical to the balance Gensokyo operates under (even if they are admirable in theory).

Her LostWord intro still makes sense as she was at first mostly helping youkai to maintain her powers, which included immortality which is what actually scared the humans enough to seal her away.

Byakuren Hijiri comes from the game Touhou 12, Undefined Fantastic Object. She's the Stage 6 Boss in this regard. Her art here is made by Lost Word, like all of the other character arts. She's really hard in UFO, and she's also portrayed as being a biker with a motorbike, since one of her attacks in a spin-off fighting game, involves her running someone over with a motorbike. Really great Touhou girl.
