Dunno if it makes you feel any better but, that second voice that sings along with Kyouko also sings along with her for the lines "hear your voice," "have no choice," "I'll say it, too," as well as "shout on high" and "return my feelings," so you probably don't need to read all too much into that particular line, tempting though it may be. ^^;

I feel pretty worried for Kyouko. The way she acts (in your lyrics of course) leads me to believe she may be kidnapped by a predator some time. I guess it don't really matter even if you insult her though because empty words won't really do anything to her since I will be there with her with more than just words if ye desire this wonderful prey.

+Nathan Xiong (CannedPsycho) LOL... that's a pretty valid interpretation... Going along with what everyone says, a person who only echoes, sounds like they could be pretty naive... It's nice that it makes her feel sympathetic, though for the record I meant for her to be sympathetic for different reasons. These lyrics are actually pretty personal to me, about the way I relate to people myself... You know how, as a shy person, you might not be able to speak to someone until they speak to you first? Or when you like someone a lot, and you agree with them a lot, you feel like an echo-- like you're not adding to the conversation, or you're just taking what they say and making everything about you. But the truth is, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," and repeating others' ideas is a big way of how I communicate my feelings... So, that's what Kyouko is doing-- and the other voice here really is Kyouko's friend, I promise. ;v;

Thing is I really just dunno anything worthwhile to say, so I'll actually usually only echo a sentence or two before I just get sad that I, at that moment, have 0 purpose of being there, like I'm the wall and nothing more. And perceiving myself as not being though of as funny or cool makes me feel bad about myself, so I try to be similar to people I look up to. (I don't know if this is that similar to your experience, it just made me think of that.)

What I don't understand about TD is that the stage themes sound peaceful, and the boss themes sound as if the boss themself is angry. The only ones that don't show this (to me) are: Mamizou Yep. Just the extra boss.Also this reminds me of the Gyate Gyate face for some reason. Probably because it's Kyouko (the origin of the Gyate Gyate face).

I tried listening to both the regular theme, and the spirit world version, even listening to a mix of the two, but none of them quite sounded like the audio used in the background for this one.. Why is that? Are you using a slight remix, or another one that isn't from TD, and if so, can I have a link?

Ah... It is the regular (non spirit world) version, but it's pitched up by one semitone. The reason has to do with the way I pitch up my voice to sing. I don't usually alter the original bgm like this, even when I do pitch up my voice, but the super-high Kyouko and Kogasa themes did that, so there wouldn't be so much disparity between my voice and the music.

Thank you! ^^ The lower-pitched voice is closer to my natural one. "Green-Eyed Jealousy," the song about the lowest of the low, is the only dub where you can hear my voice completely unpitched. But cutesy characters like Kyouko need a way higher voice than I've got. I definitely can't sound this cutesy high-pitched without lots of editing. :P It's a matter of recording my voice to a pitched-down version of the song so that I can pitch it up later to match the original. It takes me so long to record anything because I have to try a bunch of times to figure out exactly how high or low I need to go to make it sound how I want, heh.;;

There is no original Japanese version of these lyrics! The original song (composed by ZUN, featured in the Touhou games) is only the instrumental. I wrote these lyrics in English and recorded them directly on top of the instrumental. That said, there have been several fanmade Japanese lyrical remixes created of this song. The Touhou fandom thrives on a wide variety of musical arrangements. In Japanese, the original instrumental track is called 門前の妖怪小娘 ("Youkai Girl at the Gate"). If you try searching that, you might find some good Japanese vocal arrangements. Here's a list, from the Touhou wiki, of some popular arrangements: en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/List_by_Song/Ten_Desires#Stage_2_boss_-_Kyouko_Kasodani.27s_theme It's a bit uncommon to find Japanese lyrics directly paired with the original instrumental. Again, they will mostly be remixes. So you might not recognize it at first, until you get to a really iconic part of the melody. Interpretations of the character (Kyouko) will vary a lot, too. It's likely that lyrics will pursue a theme of "words, communication, echoes", because that's what the character specializes in... but many of the Japanese lyrics I see are rather more dramatic/mature than this cutesy love confession, haha.
