I actually respect shot from touhou because she is loyal to byakeren but in cannon she at first betrayed her because the humans where pressuring her to do it and she caved in. But afterwards she realized her mistake and she and nazarin and friends went to unseal byakeren to ask for forgiveness and succeeded. That is why I respect shou and byakeren for the bond they have as best friends.

their relationship is wierd tbh they basically worship each other(Shou is an Avatar of the deity Byakuren worships, while shou is under the teachings of byakuren) from what's understodd shou couldnt help Hijiri without exposing the fact she was a youkai which itself would undo the whole point of having her appiinted as the avatar.
