The world just lost a great master of kora player. He will now play in heaven.
@kagisomamabolo15734 ай бұрын
The craft will never be Lost, Kora music has been passed on from Generation to Generation in his family from father to son as Toumani was the 71st Generation and now he left the gloves to his son Sidiki Diabate as he is the 72nd Generation. We are grateful for Toumani’s existence here in Africa. I am a griot, Psychologist and philosopher from South Africa passed on as well from father to Son and We gathered in numbers and we connected to Toumani Diabetes as we connected with him Divinely before his passing was confirmed later, This is not Music is a Healing frequency(strings and harps).

I adore the Diabate family and their music. RIP Toumani (July 19, 2024).

As a guitarist, this is really amazing to find this. For the technical side of things, id say it takes a massive amount of skill to be improvising at the speedhes at and maintain a rythm component. As for the more fundamental side, i would say that i hope this style becomes more popular. Truly deserves to be known. Perhaps Tomani will be the voice.

Bear in mind that Tumani memorises all of these songs, since kora music has only been recently written in scores by the younger generation. Such a blessed mind!

I've been a fan of Toumani and the griots of Mali for years. It taught my the beauty of an ancient tradition that even as a European, I feel like I'm part of it too. The musical style itself blurs the lines between rhythm and melody, you just have to let it wash over you. Such intelligence and tomes of unspoken wisdom. It's like a time machine, but also timeless. It sometimes makes me think of Sundiata, the original lion king, the master hunter. Peace and love to all Africans.

beautiful african harp music. is he playing classical guitar or harp style? that is to say playing both the melody and the accompaniment on one instrument simultaneously? and its a lot harder than just finger picking chords. it seems he is making one instrument sound like two, what a master musician!
@Wavemaninawe8 жыл бұрын
Ive heard him do 3 parts simultaneously. Im still to this day trying to get a full grasp of the mechanics of playing the kora. Admitted... Mr. Diabaté is fucking superhuman in the way he handles it, but kora still seems to be a rather complex instrument in its own right. Complex and stunningly beautiful.
