"The cake is a lie" is from portal still alive the minecraft achievement "the lie" also has to do with this you get the achievement by making a cake at a crafting table.

Beyond the Brick, you guys seem very informed with MOC building. I was wondering were a beginner should start. How many and of what type of bricks would be a good starting point for someone new?

+Some Nerd I'm glad you're getting into MOC building! There isn't a set amount of pieces that each builder should have before attempting to build a MOC. Some builders create amazing micro scale builds with just a few small pieces! You'll want to try to buy a variety of pieces so that you have multiple choices when deciding what piece to use in a MOC.
