That makes me really happy. Pogacar did started to crack near the top on the 2nd passage because he was on the wheel Vingegaard but was dropped proof was the fact Vingegaard finished 40 before Pogacar did at the top of the climb, and just because he caught back up on the descent doesn’t mean he didn’t crack. Also his lead in the GC was increased because Ben O’Conner who was 2nd entering the day also cracked on the 2nd passage thus losing time and allowing Uran to move up into 2nd 5 minutes behind. When you consider Pogacar only won in the final TT last year, and is already 5+ minutes on his nearest rivals, with the race only 1/2 over, it's a good omen. That said, all it takes is one crash or horrible day to erase a big lead, but I think that's unlikely with Tadej. People like Porte and Martin are far more accident prone and have a history of being snake bit. That kid who gave Pogacar a good challenge today was a flash in the pan, besides, he'd croak in the TT if it ever got close. It's embarrassing how weak the UAE squad is, they can't escort, protect or launch Pogacar! He's gotta do it on his own and I wonder how long before he leaves for another team that deserves him?
@_shreyash_anand3 жыл бұрын

'W'Ineos made the effort today to really winnow down the contenders. Carapaz, Uran, Pogacar the podium in Paris...I bet. Not sure there really is a way to dislodge Pogacar at this point...barring crash or incredibly poorly timed mechanical or wind induced break. Ineos really missing full strength Thomas / Porte / Hart to raise potential GC breakaways.

So today after this Van Aert "Miracle" win on heaviest maintain climb, it won't be any question about doping after this 20kg heavier cyclist win over all climbing specialist? And what wats he had? And just few days after he lost 20 minutes after peleton in previous mountain stage!!!! and also stage before. Yeah for sure it is miracle recuperation and real performance from heaven. But yeah, we understand sure everything is in best order and clean and pure, it is only important that surname has "Van" in the middle.

You seem to forget all the work he did in the mountains for Roglic in the TDF 2020. He lost a lot of time in previous mountain stages but there has been a rest day in between and yesterday he said he was getting stronger. It is not abnormal that riders get better (or maybe less bad ) than others in grand tours. He did not have ideal preparations for the tour due to surgery. And as for the weight issue, Indurain, Merckx and Riis were not exactly lightweights either. On a good day a more powerful driver can beat a specialist mountain goat, but over several weeks the specialists will end higher in the CG. So, unless you have proof of doping you might keep your suspicions to yourself.

You have to think… he just had appendectomy a little over a month ago … his fitness is only gonna get better as this race goes on, I mean did you watch last years race any or is your memory that short Wout was destroying everyone up those long climbing stretches and that was just him setting a pace for Primoz … wout and MVDP were made for that kind of terrain that’s cyclocross … he will crack in the Pyrenees when it is actually steep …

And throw away the victory? That would have been stupid. Vingegaard sure is strong and can make it to the podium, but over 5 minutes difference to Pogacar. If nothing unexpected happens the winner of the TDF will be Pogacar.

And throw away chances of a stage win ? Vinegaard needs to work on his descent skills. Could not close the gap on Mollema and was caught by Pogacar, Carapaz and Uran.

What a shitty stage, zero GC action, boring winner. Honestly the last guy I ever hoped to win the stage and quite the mockery, they also didn't even bother to try and chase him down. Too much politics just like when the quitter got gifted yellow, wish I did something else with my day well should have known better I guess but when Bauke Mollema is the most offensive rider of the day you know it's shit.
@spaketticarbonada96513 жыл бұрын
The last guy ever. Why? I think it's pretty cool to see after his near career ending crash in the TT a few years back. But I agree.... he was no threat to the GC and lucky that Pogacar can't handle heat. Otherwise I don't think Van Aert would have ever won.
@frodo58823 жыл бұрын
They didn't bother to try and chase him down? Well, you should go and tell that Elissonde, Mollema and Alaphilippe then. They might disagree.

@@frodo5882 Sure but such a stage belongs to the champions not second tier wheelsuckers like Mollema(god bless him and you should know I cheered for him to take the stage, but let's face it nobody in their right mind would at any point believe he is capable of doing so) or whoever Elissonde is. Stage is simply hyped up and made in such a way that anybody but one of the GC contenders winning is a joke and I really dislike sprinters winning mountain stages, let alone the most hyped one of this years tour

@@oscarlindvall1053 But you do realize that Mathieu and Wout are the two riders with the most fans (maybe besides Julian)? And if Wout can beat all the GC riders in the high mountains, it is not him to blame but the GC riders. Why didn't Pogacar attack?
