This video was recorded with a Insta360 One X2. That's what made possible the free handed footage on the ladder part and also the different angles. I am always working on fine tuning my recordings and gear and I want too keep it as light as possible. For my next project I will most probably use an external microphone to improve sound quality and reduce wind noises. Thank you very much for watching.

Amazing video! TMB is an amazing trail right? Absolutely loved it. Super fun to see all the familiar places. What was your favourite part of the TMB?
@ShantiHikes2 жыл бұрын
I really loved the TMB too. And again in June this year I came across the Col du Bonhomme and Col de la Croix du Bonhomme on the Tour du Beaufortain. This is like a mini TMB having this part in common. I think it's difficult to say what is my favorite part. But I definitively was very impressed by those two cols I have mentioned above. But I had also two really memorable camping spots in high altitude. And then the ladder part was amazing too. So many things I will never forget. ... I'm just back from GR20 and I hope do publish my video about it this month.

@@ShantiHikes @Shanti Hikes That sounds amazing. Those were our favorite parts as well. We loved the balcony from Courmayeur to Switzerland as well but unfortunately the weather wasn't that good that day... OH we will make sure to check your GR20 video out as well! We heard a lot of people on the TMB talking about that trail. How did you like that trail?

@@ShantiHikes So cool!! That sounds lovely. Too many great spots and sections during the TMB right?! 😛 Looking forward to your GR20 video!

@@Hikaholics Thanks a lot. The GR20 is an amazing trail as well, but very difficult. Due to some thunderstorms many hikers (more than 50%) abandoned that period, when I was there two weeks ago. Compared to the GR20, the TMB is more like a motorway. There is only very little climbing. The GR20 is very technical and for a big part it is climbing in rocks.

Good to know this is doable, I'm trying to plan my route now. Did you have much time to stop for lunch at a restaurant? I still want to enjoy the experience to the full but get some good miles in!
@ShantiHikes2 жыл бұрын
This is definitively doable. I am used to hike long distances, but when I went there I couldn't do much hiking before. So I was rather unprepared for the amount of inclines. The first day was a bit difficult but I managed every day to stop for lunch and have some breaks for filming and photos. I originally planned for 9 days, but reduced to 8 days as I was really fine going a bit faster. As many people are walking that amazing trail it is important to reserve in advance your shelters if you want to stay in shelters. Otherwise there are good possibilities to wild camp in France. Italy is more difficult as you have to be above 2500 m and in Switzerland wild camping is not allowed. But there are possibilities to camp on Campings.

@@ShantiHikes brill thank you! I've emailed a couple of refuges just in case but I want to camp as much as possible like you did!

@@ShantiHikes Hello again, was there an alternative place to stay than Refuge des Mottets? I'm going in two weeks and has to replan the route as a friend dropped out!
@ShantiHikes2 жыл бұрын
@@DudeWheresMyCardz Will you camp? Before arriving at les Mottets there is a nice place where you can wild camp. You will see the place on the left of the trail around 1 km before Mottets. Its in between ruins of an old barn or farmhouse. Otherwise you can stay at a campground in Chapieux... there you can ask at the tourist office.
