I was there & seen it in 85'. We had a blast! The property was a lot different back then, and if I remember correctly the seat belt buckles on the Lisa Marie were also gold plated. And oh yeah, we got to see his favorite horse Rising Sun back then, he was still alive. He actually had his head poking through the back kitchen door when we toured the kitchen! @@RetiredLovingIt Yes, the tour round Graceland is but a small part of your day there. There is a squash court out back which is now a museum of gold discs and robes he wore, then there are the three planes across the road in the Fly Like The King section, then there's the amazing Elvis's car museum, then a little strip mall of Elvis shops. I wish he'd seen all the money he generates despite being dead. I got the feeling there that he was an innocent person being exploited by the cynical. Poor Elvis, such a lovely person, not really suited to the seedy, greedy world of show business.

The smaller jet, of which there was another identical jet he owned at one point is / are Lockheed Jetstars, the other of which he sold before his death and was abandoned in Roswell New Mexico. The abandoned Jetstar recently was sold at auction and made a brief stop at Graceland on its way to Florida to be repurposed as the new owner found out that not only would it be cost prohibitive to repair but also (and this is likely for both Jetstars) FAA noise regulations would prohibit the engines from even being started up

Convair 880s and 990s were very fast aircraft, even by today's standards, around 620mph. Maintenance was a nightmare though because these aircraft were so technologically ahead of their time. They were also loud and guzzled fuel at an alarming rate, which is why only around 100 or so of the aircraft family were built.
