The spare-tire cable of Sienna was recalled for safety reasons. Check with a Toyota dealer.

I have a 2005 Sienna. The spare tire cabling was recalled for rusting out and it was really built for a space saving spare. Since it was recalled they replaced mine. About 128k miles currently (bought a 2013 Prius C new, with body style package 4, so the van is relegated to moving van status). Another young couple has a “no build” camper van conversion for a 2008 Sienna. Full futon frame with fold out full size futon/ an Amazon computer desk fits perfectly in the “stow and go” folding rear seat well like it was built for the Sienna. All of it comes out if they want to use it for 7 people and daily use instead of stealth camping ( or want to eventually sell the van). The couple if from NY ...”Gym Nomads” or something similar. All their camping set up can be reversed in about 30 minutes to 1 hour. The Sienna is a great well built van!

Good information here. I bought a 2005 Sienna 2 years ago in order to do what you did. But I didn't. I still live in a house I also built and don't want to leave it on the one hand, but it's very expensive to keep on the other. It would be nice to join the other Nomads out there.

Ok that pipe insulation on the bucket rim is brilliant, I was thinking to get one of those toilet lids for 5 gallon buckets but that seems more comfortable, cheaper and more inconspicuous. Port hole in the window cover is really cool too.

I used to have the same van and will get another (great vehicle!) You are the first person I have seen (besides myself) to recognize the value of 1) keeping the smaller rear seat - it is very comfortable and already secured, and 2) removing the rear driver side seat for more storage space. This just makes so much sense!

Enjoyable to watch, I watch several of the mini van camper youtubes, and this was awesome! Not once was I tempted to fast forward! Very nice and simple reminds me of my first van build with leaving the third row seating so you can sit there and change clothes or whatever. Also I roll like that with backpacking and camping gear rather than extravagant built in sinks and stoves. I think I will try and copy your slide-out table idea.

Im going to look at a 04 and wonder what the middle row is like....I really don't want to build a platform but if there are tracks or something sticking out, I will have to. I have a 3 fold mattress that if I can roll it out and not have anything sticking me in the back, Ill be just fine. Just use for camping trips.

There are no tracks sticking out when the seats are removed . However the floor is not totally flat as from the front of the second row seats there is a slight slope downwards to the rear of the front seats. I guess you could add some padding to have a level foundation so your mattress will be reasonably flat. I have a 2006 LE

Slim Potatohead on his KZbin channel started out with the type of fridge you currently have but ended up replacing it with a Chinese compressor fridge, an Alpicool C20. It uses a lot less power and works much better for him. Bob Wells, in a recent post on his CheapRVLiving KZbin channel recommends that people buy inexpensive Chinese compressor fridges instead of some of the more expensive models.

@@ThisLandHasMrE Not sure if this would work but I was thinking that for the case where you don't have a lot of power to maybe run the fridge in freezer mode during the day and freeze water bottles. At the end of the day transfer the frozen water bottles to a cooler and switch the fridge off for a couple of days.

@@ThisLandHasMrE I have an Alpicool C20 and the Jackey 500 will run it for 37 hours at 37 degrees in eco mode. I discontinued my test when the Jackery reserve reached 25 percent. That was good for me. One other thing to speed the charging of your 240 is to get a 300W inverter like a Giandel and use that to charge your 240 as it is much faster than using the 12V input
