I was there in 1990. I went with a US ARMY tour. We got there Sunday morning. I hauled a VHS camcorder all over. We went to Notre Dame during Sunday services and not allowed to film. I remember they warned us about pick pockets in front of the church. Thanks for letting me revisit old memories

WOW!! Those stained glass windows were OUT OF THIS WORLD, not to mention the stone masonry. The detail on the Cathedral was stunning. I was surprised you got round as easy as you did in Notre Dame, I thought it would be packed. I must say you really have done us proud on our Paris trip and THANK YOU SO MUCH. A brilliant vlog again, enjoy you evening Jordan.

The Crown of Thorns - along with other relics of Christ's Passion were bought by King Louis from the Latin Emperor of Constantinople. The Latins had burned, captured and pillaged Constantinople in 1204. The relics of the Passion were kept in the Imperial Byzantine Chapel of the the Pharos, which has near the Boukoleon Palace. This chapel housed many of the greatest relics in the Christian world, including the Crown of Thorns, the Holy Sidona (burial cloth of Christ), the winding cloths, the holy nails and the famous Mandylion, the image of Christ that was imprinted on a cloth and sent to King Agbar of Edessa. The Imperial chapel of the Pharos was dedicated to the Theotokos, the vaults decorated with acres of gold mosaic, the walls were encrusted with precious rare marbles and the doors and floors were made of sold silver. All of the relics were housed in gold and silver containers decorated with enamels, gemstones and pearls. The chapel was lit by huge silver chandeliers and hanging glass lamps. This chapel was like a giant reliquary. In 1204 the chapel was not looted because it was in a palace where relatives of the crusaders (and King Louis) had taken refuge. When the city fell a Latin crusader knight with a group of soldiers sped to the Buckoleon to save these women, entered the palace and occupied it. In any case Louis bought many of the relics from the chapel and built his own Pharos Chapel in Sainte-Chapelle. The relics - like the Crown of Thorns, had been assembled in the Pharos chapel in the 9th century. They were taken to Hagia Sophia on special occasions so that thousands pilgrims could venerate them (like how you saw them in Notre Dame). The Byzantines believed them to be genuine.

Love story telling through the depiction of pictures because It's a universal language. The imagery of the Crown of Thorns reminds me to always try and stay in a Place of compassion and sometimes I fall short but I'm not a saint and it's a good lesson in patience and forgiveness. Powerful thought provoking vlog Jordan. 🙏💜🌎

I usually view your vlogs in the evening well past when everyone else has, so I can't get anyone else's opinion. The knowledge and genius of the 13th thru the 15th century has never been repeated or duplicated, The building and the art of these massive cathedrals and structures is mind blowing. I wish I could feel what you are feeling as you view and vlog. If anyone hasn't contributed to your channel as yet, I really wish they would. It cost's to go on these adventures and what we receive is priceless.

This trip just keeps getting better and better! The first frame of the Treasury depicted the most beautiful traditional priestly vestments (for saying the Holy Mass of the Ages), a far cry of beauty and attention to detail compared to the stark, plane and ugliness of the new modern “vestments” they use today. The Notre Dame Cathedral is yer another brilliant testimony of the true vertical reverence that God is due; the Crown of Thorns adds to this signature. Magnifique’!

I absolutely love what you do Jordan. ty for bringing us along. I don't believe it is "REAL" but I love your enthusiasm. one thing that strikes me as interesting is how one person can believe something fervently and another believe just as enthusiastically that the opposite is true. Ginger Know that the beautiful blue windows of the beginning of the video are not in Notre Dame but in the Sainte Chapelle, so no problem for that. Unfortunately, the stained glass behind the facade of Notre Dame (in the heart), have certainly been heavily damaged by the strong heat ....

litogor thank you I was actually talking about the glass cases with all the relics, artifacts and passion of Christ box that the crown of thorns were in. And crown itself.... however I understand they removed the statues last night to protect from restoration process... seems kinda suspicious to me but I hope they got the relics out too.
