Cool tour, but I couldn’t be the only one that was super annoyed by the commentator; “600 foot ship it’s so huge but not really as big as a regular cruise” “can’t believe people from texas would be here”, “ what’s the name of this ship again?”, “Trono”, yadayadayada

Very unprofessional on the commentator’s part. Should have had facts and figures down pat. Also needs to invest in a steady camera

Probably has a real future in commercial TV, and it's easy to believe he's "been on LOTS of cruises." Wow. 🐰🎪🤦🏻‍♂️

Very unprofessional commentator. The ship’s name is not that hard, do your research before you go on your PR tour - the Viking website has a ton of useful information- the other photographers running around and in front of were very distracting. Granted it seems this was a very short visit allowed by Viking to local “news” media, a better job could’ve been done by all involved in this video tour.

Decor is quite similar to their ocean ships. I've sailed on Viking Star and Viking Sky but I'll probably skip this, having lived in a northwest Chicago suburb and traveled for work throughout the region, including Toronto, Detroit and Milwaukee. I hope they're successful on the Great Lakes as their ocean cruises are excellent.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess the "$6,000 dollar a night" cruise thing was horrifically inaccurate?
@bmearszumbagold
@bmearszumbagold 2 жыл бұрын
I think it starts at $6,000 for 8 nights. Not each night. Still pretty costly for a Great Lake tour
@erics607
@erics607 2 жыл бұрын
It's approximately $6,000 per person for 8 nights. A few others are around $6,500 per person for an 8 night cruise. It's approximately $700 - $950 a night per person. Unlike the ocean cruises, a lot of the excursions are included with these cruises, especially in Antarctica.

Awesome ship. Also, quick note at 2:06 you said that Anthem of the Seas is about 1000 people, it's actually more like 4905 people. Octantis is relatively small, at about 30,000 GT, compared to Anthem of the Seas 168,666 GT.

Detroit needs to spruce up the dock area.
@joergenkarljohanssoniii3848
@joergenkarljohanssoniii3848 2 жыл бұрын
That dock area is mainly for "shipping ships" i guess you would say. The other docks are not large enough to compensate for such a large ship. It needs to dock with the freighters
@adria89
@adria89 2 жыл бұрын
@@joergenkarljohanssoniii3848 It still leaves a bad impression when someone's view of Detroit is that dock. Detroit wants more visitors but that view isn't going to entice people to come explore the city.
@Mark-oy1wv
@Mark-oy1wv 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct. I read in the local newspaper that these ships could actually dock downtown but it’s at the Captain’s discretion. Some ship Captains don’t feel comfortable with the size of the dock that is actually in downtown Detroit. City officials are starting realize the potential of even more cruise lines coming if they expand the downtown dock to be more conducive to take on bigger ships as this one. But I agree with you…the doc this ship is using to doc at is not at all inviting for people to want to even depart the ship🤦🏽‍♂️

A lot of us here just around Toronto pronounce it Taronna. Soft a after the first t. Probably laziness or a dislike for the big city.

FFS - stop saying "six hundred foot ship" followed by the words huge or gigantic. This is a lovely ship, but it's literally 1/7th the size of the big ships. It's bigger than a yacht. Let's move on.
@jonathanellsworth21
@jonathanellsworth21 2 жыл бұрын
The reason that’s important is because the only other cruise ships to enter the Great Lakes were maybe 200-300 feet at most. Is she small in context of ships worldwide? Yeah. Is she huge in proper context? Also yes

Though this Ship at 30K Gton is 50% larger then Love Boat size Ships of the 1970-90. My Kids love the 230K GT Ships but I'll stick with the 70-90K GT while they are still around. Travel SOLO and for price of 8 Days on Viking Octantis I can do 60 nites on Royal Caribbean and in a Balcony Cabin.

@@LoveMokes Detroit went into bankruptcy back in 2013 if that’s what you call “not too long ago.” And I must admit there are neighborhoods that I definitely avoid but that’s also the case when I’m in L.A., Chicago, Miami and New York City. I live in suburban Detroit and besides the bad weather sometimes, I love it. You may be surprised to find out that crime and killings are taking place in every major city in the USA. Let me know when you find your paradise

600 Feet and Built perfect for a crues on the Great lakes. they built a Ship looking beautiful and design looks just right. 5,995,00 FOR 8 DAYS WITH LUXURY FITS WELL. Titanic was actually a bit smaller so this is a Ocean Ship Ready for any where around the world. though Could it be also Built for Shallow waters is to be seen. Though a Fresh Water ship will not Rust out ? a slight difference in how salt water and fresh water behaves would be an interesting story. and air water pockets are they the same with fresh or salt water. So much detail Legal Documentation and Science they must have done to make this Possible. Docking and the Vikings Hibernation when the ice freezes Over for Winter . This Ship it Seems will Last Longer Than Any Other Ship In The World. 🛳🛷🗻🗻❄⛄🌌🪴🌃✨🌬🌬🌿🍂🌳🌱🌷🌹🌻👍✌
