Yes I changed the tire.

Assuming you will be having a raised floor put in your garage, what ever you do make sure you have electrical outlets at each end of your island. The house I live in now has a nice island but no electrical outlets and I have to run an extension cord to the island when I want to use my mixer or whatever. Can’t wait to see the new kitchen.

Jamerill you should consider getting a stainless steel restaurant work table for your kitchen. You could place hot things on it, cut your veggies on it. Easy peasy to clean & disinfect. You can get them with a shelf on the bottom to store 5 gallon buckets of flour, sugar and so on. Would also be a great place to fill & wrap your 9x 13’s. Love you sweet Momma❣️😘

You can find them at restaurant supply store or restaurants going out of business. Also at schools that shut down. I wouldn't cut veggies on it. Always use a cutting board. The stainless table will ruin your knives and your knife could actually slip on the slick surface.

I watched Paula Deen's new house renovation and she did something EVERY NEW KITCHEN NEEDS! It was called an "appliance pantry" It was a long countertop with lots of electric plugs, that had her mixer, instapots, blender, waffle maker, toaster... all the things that people hide. All laid out on a big old countertop with the plugs AND THEN SHE HAD BI FOLDING CABINET DOORS TO HIDE THEM 😍 She also had shelving above the countertop that she held all her baking goods. It looked like a big cabinet pantry but from the outside but those doors folded back instead of opening up and it was the most glorious kitchen design idea I have ever seen. Be sure to check it out.

Wow that is a big space. To really be able to see and feel the layout you might want to put painters tape on the floor to mark where the walls, island, cabinets, etc. are. That way you can walk through it and really feel how wide the walkways are, etc. And it’s so easy to change. Good luck. Looking forward to the journey.

Remember to run a power outlet into the pantry! You can then plug in the cordless vacuum to recharge. Another garbage solution that works great is multiple trash cans - even Norma size- built into the cabinets. That allows for people passing through different ways to toss things. Less congestion than one bin.

Love all of your ideas making this work for your family! One thought I had was if you reduced the width of the island by a foot (12’x5’) and give yourself 4’ between table and island that might be better… three feet seems like enough space but when you’ve got people in chairs at the island and people in chairs at the table no one can walk through there and it might just be too tight chairs backed up to each other.
@janrogers83523 жыл бұрын
I had the exact same thought. If you have people sitting at the table, there is not enough room to pass between them and the island. It will be hard to have people sitting at the table and also have people sat at the island if you have a large gathering.

Girl, look into commercial kitchen sink big deep basins sprayer. Commercial oven, convection oven, roller sheet tray holder, big double wide freezer. Commercial dish washer. You can probably get liquidation stuff cheap. Make it easy on yourself. It can still be pretty. Industrial is in and holds up. I'd even go stainless on the island.👍
@makeuplover68523 жыл бұрын
Given the very unfortunate massive shuttering of so many restaurants in the past 20 months, I think it may be possible to pick up some of these industrial appliances for MUCH less than full retail. I would definitely look into that possibility. I’ve had the two oven stoves so one smaller oven on the top, and then a 2nd one on the bottom, but it isn’t the size of a “full” oven, so yup I could not fit in an extra large turkey...so, I sold it and went with a slide in induction cook top and regular size stove with convection. I would go with two wall ovens and microwave ( in the wall) and then a huge cook top that has the section in the middle that you can turn into a cook top for pancakes, French toast etc...that’s what I would and hope to do in my next house.
@coryjanacek32173 жыл бұрын
I did a complete kitchen renovation at a previous home and I had a 9x4 foot island with a double sink and it still wasn’t big enough. I was cooking for my family (4) daily and had a small “catering“ side business and found that I was constantly looking for places to put the aluminum containers, large bowls and other cooking utensils. The island couldn’t be any larger because slabs of granite didn’t come any bigger and I didn’t want to buy 2 slabs and have a seam in the middle. My advice is get the biggest island you can since you have the space, especially if you’re going to put a sink in it (I wouldn’t do that again, takes up too much usable space).
@luisebandorf48733 жыл бұрын
Here’s my 2 cents..lol. Personally I prefer solid cabinet doors without insets or grooves, because they are a lot easier and faster to clean. The house we bought has a white sink. It is so easy discolored, just with tomato based sauces or coffee if not rinsed immediately. It also constantly gets black scratches from stainless steels pots and pans. All of that cleans off with a good baking soda scrub, but stainless steels is so much easier to clean. I can’t wait to change that out to stainless steel!!

Also, the pot filler, life saver! We added one of those refrigerators with the computer in the door (no ice/water dispenser!!!) giving us the choice of live streaming, having recipes from the internet or computer, and ***being at the grocery store and seeing what is inside*** another life saver. The double oven ranges are great but limit space. We have 1 double oven and 1 range with a large oven/air fryer/convection oven combination to accommodate large meat choices ie: whole brisket, 25lb turkey, multiple chickens or large cookie sheets all at the same time.

Oh yes, the Navy Blue color on the Island is beautiful. Also, brother-in-law and his wife had the Amish build their Kitchen Cabinets and Walk-in Pantry. Beautiful and what they wanted inside the cabinets. Also, you can have less top cabinets with a large walk-in pantry, which is what we are going to do. Love watching your plan unfold! So exciting! I have 2 suggestions just from watching you the last couple of years. The first -- I'd continue the countertop all the way around and to the end of the first garage door location (ending parallel to your island) so that you have a kitchen appliance docking station, for lack of a better term. You could have multiple "appliance garage" cabinets there where you could scoot your Instant Pots and slow cookers in and out of, without ever having to pick them up. Multiple outlets there as well. You always have multiple out and working at a time and this would give you dedicated space for that. You'd be losing the couch option, but that leads me to #2. Secondly, is there a way to make an opening/wide doorway in the wall around where you are planning your work desk area that would open to the front living room? Or is Zion's room there? If so, that would be the first step of the big open living space inside you are wanting and give an entry point into the kitchen that doesn't go through the mud room/laundry area. Just a couple of ideas!
@JamerrillStewart3 жыл бұрын
Those are really great ideas. The main wall there that you see is a loadbearing wall for the entire house and will take some heavy engineering to ever remove any parts of that. So for now we’re not going to mess with that wall. Lightning and we have considered plans to take the countertop all the way to the end. I also like the idea of having a chair there with a stool and a nice reading lamp 😂. Good thing we still have time to move things around!

Countertop tips: you definitely want quartz countertops. They are heat resistant, easy to clean, and never need to be resealed like granite. Stay away from marble! As someone who works professionally with stone (albeit in cemeteries) marble is just not durable. It’s soft, easily stained, and reacts to acids and salts (even normal stuff like vinegar or bleach can make it wear over time). If you want the marble look, there are some quartz countertops that look really convincing. On that note, though, avoid solid white countertops. You will see every crumb, every drop of tomato sauce, every stray piece of pepper. The only way they stay looking clean is if you never use them. So get something with some kind of pattern to break up shapes so that mess isn’t so obvious.

We just put in our dream kitchen and here is what I love about it and wish we had thought of. We have 12 kids, 10 still at home. We went with a 48 inch range and double wall ovens. I LOVE having 4 ovens and 8 burners. We also did 2 dishwashers. Amazing!! Pot filler over the stove is so nice. Our island is 10.5 feet by 6 feet. It's PERFECT for big family life. We put in pantry cabinets to store our big family appliances in vs uppers and lowers. This works so well for storage. We put double outlets on each end of the island and they are great BUT I didn't think about the island being 10 feet long. I wish we had put an out let in the middle of the cabinet run. I am finding my self standing at the end of the island using the mixer and food processor vs the middle of the island. It's just not the best use of space using small appliances. For the island to be as big as we wanted we had to put in support on both ends. Under the island we have cabinets for "hidden" storage. These work great for items we don't use all the time. Holiday things and the like. I'm excited for you to get the kitchen of your dreams.
@leann95993 жыл бұрын
How exciting! So many lovely things to think about! One thing to consider with the dining table next to the island, is if the space between the two is enough room for when there are people seated at both? On the drawing you shared, it showed 36" between them. That seems like it might be a bit crowded. I think I would make the island 4-5 feet wide instead of 6, which would allow for additional space between the table and island when all your peeps are using this area. I'm sure that the cabinet guy at Lowe's can help you figure out the best function and flow for your space. Best wishes to you and your family!

Just a thought: we moved our washer/dryer upstairs and it's been a life saver. Having the laundry close to where most people change and the sheets and towels saves having to lug laundry baskets up and down the stairs. The only thing I'm moving up and down are dish towels and cleaning rags. I don't know what the layout is upstairs or if this would be possible to put the laundry room upstairs but it's at least worth considering!

Equipment garages to hold/cover all the countertop stuff-air fryers, instant pots, kitchen aid mixers, etc. They have a place and within easy pull out but isn’t visible clutter. Have you seen the kitchen aid mixer lift up holders? They are fancy and amazing!

Jamerrill have you thought about putting a compost bin in one of the cabinets in the island? That might be helpful and handy.

Have you considered separating the 2 stoves with a 9", 12" or 15" cabinet where you can store the baking sheets and then have a place to have your utensil holders on the counter in between the 2 stoves?

Congrats on getting your dream kitchen. Just a suggesting, Ditch the wall of fridges and add a walk in freezer/fridge combo, they are not as expensive as you think. They can set outside, bulk outside with the door inside (like getting a room addition), or fully inside but then you have the compressor inside and that can be noisy. So much more room. It is on my wish list. They also have very fancy beautiful walk in fridges, with cameras, auto doors but those are expensive and custom.

What a fantastic kitchen you will have when this project is done! So much space! All sounds fantastic... a thought- the double oven stoves you talked about may be more limiting when it comes to large pans, roasters, etc. They may not be tall enough to accommodate a large roaster. Since you're talking 3 large ovens(2 with stoves, one with microwave) you may have enough oven space/variety to really cook up a storm.

If you can see your ovens in person, take a full sheet pan and see if it fits. I have a ge profile convection oven. I can bake 3 full sheet pans at once. It also has an oven drawer that works for things like casseroles. My neighbors with fancier ovens than mine can’t fit a full sheet pan in their ovens, much less three. So nice to customize a large family style kitchen! So happy for each of you!

Last question I promise, lol I was wondering if you had thought about using the walk-in coolers, hood, and the dishwasher like we used at our Pizza Hut? Which you would purchase them from a restaurant supply company. I think they would be awesome for your kitchen, with all the cooking and refrigerating items you need.

A nice galley style prep kitchen on that back wall with the exterior door would be awesome! Then add the big pretty kitchen right in front. That way kids walk in back prep kitchen then can go down mudroom hallway. Also, you might have storage back in the prep kitchen for extra fridges/freezers. Add a decorative door. It would’ve like a nice walk in pantry/prep kitchen area.

Consider having an architect do up plans for the entire house reno all at once so you can see what is a priority. I am concerned you will have a massive kitchen and a small family room with a big laundry room in between the two. You have a massive basement and your current kitchen could be expanded with the garage as a party room with the mud room, bathroom, storage and laundry rooms in the basement. Just think it will save you huge on the front to consider your entire house.

Isn't the next stage plan to take down the wall between her family room and living room (which we never see) to make it a large gathering space? But, yes, I have the same concerns as you... she needs an architect, for sure. (I commented the same after her first 'garage' vid.)

I have a GE double convection over and I absolutely love it. The top smaller oven heats up so quickly it saves so much time. I cook several times a day and lots of baking and it works beautifully on everything.

I am so excited for this mega Jamerill kitchen! Really for selfish reasons. Lol. I mean the content you produce from your baby kitchens is awesome but I bet the content from mega Jamerill kitchen will be even better! Plus there will be more room for the adorable kiddos to help you in the kitchen. I'm so happy that you are getting the dream kitchen that you so deserve! 🥰

My kitchen has a breakfast area that was always cramped and crowded, BUT it holds two chairs nicely and it's funny how very often people will stop and sit in the kitchen sitting area and chat while I am cooking. You'll love having a chair and couch at the end of the kitchen!

My husband and I completely gutted and remodeled two kitchens, in the course of our lifetime (retired now) using Lowe’s. No problem, like their stuff. A couple of suggestions. Your trash is too far away, I think you’ll be frustrated. I would consider one of the lower cabinets (maybe in the island?) near where you are prepping and working to become a trash cabinet. Also, don’t forget to put in at least one vertical cabinet (perhaps on the side of the wall opposite your cooking/counter area) to store brooms, hand sweepers, etc. i think that two residential ovens is going to look weird, and for the expense I would go with a commercial oven (they do a much better job actually). If your thinking Bosch for your dishwashers, you can go a little bit more for your ovens. Don’t scrimp on the major appliances. But whatever you do, it’ll turn out great, best wishes.

Accessibility is KEY - no matter your age or stage in life! From an accessibility standpoint drawers are great, but also allow littles to be more independent and helping to put things in their place. Anytime you can “pull things out to meet you” instead of hunching, crawling or carrying it. DO IT! This applies to not only dish/pan/pantry storage but water too, (pot filler). And even drawers or slide out options for things in the laundry room as well. Dedicated spots for bigger appliances to be used and ‘parked’.

We got to design our kitchen a couple years ago. Listening to your thought process sounded a lot like ours! :) we did a U shaped kitchen. Fridge/freezer left, stove/oven middle, dishwasher and sink right. Then prep sink in the middle of the island in front of the stove. White cabinets, “Sea Salt” painted island, and then two built-in glass door hutches that are Alder wood (white washed and gray stained to make a warm gray wood). The hutches hold dishes and serving trays. I wish I could attach a picture! Also we did our dish washing sink as an inset stainless and our prep sink is a rounded white farmhouse sink. I totally recommend doing one of each. I heavily use my stainless and treat the porcelain one like it’s glass. And somehow it’s already scratched up where dishes sit. You can make your island the size of your countertop slab! That way there’s no caulk seams. We did leathered Shadow storm counters. Some people call it a marble, some a quartzite. We love it. So many good ideas! Funny story, I found your channel while you were pregnant with Tobin and I was pregnant with my #3. And we had our babies a couple days apart! I live in TN, but I grew up in your town. My family and some friends are still there. I feel like we would have been friends if I hadn’t moved away 17 years ago! So much in common, but only 1/3 of the kiddos😂. You are a positive voice to listen to while I do my mom to do lists. I am grateful for your kind spirit and how you view children as a blessing. And your channel in general, Thank you!

Just a side note the double ovens you are talking about I have one, love having the two ovens but....when you go and look at them open the bottom oven and you will see how far you have to bend to get something out (like a heavy turkey) not fun of course I am not as young as you but please check it out before you buy. Is there anyway you could do the double full size ovens and a cook top or two??
@mamagoldielocks3 жыл бұрын
Yes, this! I have one of these stoves with the two ovens and the lower (big) one is ground level. I also only use the upper one for things on a cookie sheet...it is too small for much else.

I’m so excited for you! Just one thought….you might want to check the distance between the table with the chairs pulled out (like someone is sitting there) and see if there’s still room to open your cupboards along the wall. Also on the other side of the table, if the chairs are pulled out one the table and the stools on the island were also pulled out, would there be room to walk between them?

Did two kitchen remodels. Here is what I learned. Spend money on pull out drawer instead of lower cabinets. Things will not get lost in the back cabinets. Also get FULL extension drawers. Don’t spend money on granite countertops. Get quartz countertops instead. They can make it look like granite or marble. It will not stain unlike granite and marble. Plus it’s much cheaper. If you can afford it, get big quartz slabs as a backsplash (less grout lines). It’s easier to clean. Cleaning grout is a pain. Regarding flooring I’d go with luxury vinyl flooring. They look like hard wood, but much easier to clean. Plus they don’t warp if water was spilled, and not immediately cleaned up. Also if you can, get extra cork padding. It’ll be much better for your back. Tiled or hardwood floors aren’t good if you stand a long time.

Did I miss it or are you going to have a large walk in pantry? I would definitely have a lot of plug ins on your island for all your instapots crockpots etc and a sink in your island for vegetable washing while your cooking. Omg! I’m so excited for you haha, you would think it was my kitchen. I would never have a farmhouse sink, they stain, scratch and chip, stainless steel is so much more durable

I would reccomend a trash compacted built in. Also, a woman on tik tok wanted a commercial fridge but did not like the price or wait so she bought 2 that had the fridge over freezer and bought the kit to make them built in. Looked amazing

How exciting. I am loving hearing you tell us about your new kitchen. Great idea with entrance/mudroom. It seems like the majority of the time you video from the kitchen and interruptions could be an inconvenience. I have a 2-oven stove and love it. Don't use both all the time, but with company and holidays, it has definitely paid for off with having an extra oven when I need it. As for a commercial dishwasher, I did not know there was such a thing. All I ever knew as commercial was the huge conveyor type. Any who, our church has one in the fellowship building and there is a commercial DW. It's not the best layout/placement for big stockpots, roasters, super-sized bowls, etc., but for dishes, bowls, glasses......5-minutes from wash/sanitized to dry. It is awesome. If I ever need to replace mine here at home, will be considering it. Pantry cabinets are great for the end of a run of cabinets and you can put a microwave in it. It can be behind doors, but easily accessible. It sounds like your Travis is quite the handyman. DH built my stove hood. You might want to consider having one made to fit the area. Find what style you want and take it from there to see if it is feasible to build it.

I am so happy for your on this new journey. We have a general contracting business in Houston Texas and deal with city permits every day. One piece of unsolicited advise is this- comply, comply, comply with the city. If they see that you are willing to work with them and not try to “hide” anything they are fairly easy to deal with. Bite your tongue and do whatever they ask even if (as most of the time) they are asking for something ridiculous. You can walk away and roll your eyes lol. If you ever make one mad and tick them off, they can make your life a living nightmare. Good luck and Godspeed with the county and city permit office. Sounds like you’re off to a great start. Can’t wait to see the finished kitchen
