Thank you! So fun to tour a garden located geography near mine. My garden is on LakeMichigan like your moms but about 30 to the South, so……..GREAT IDEAS for me to steal! 😉 The effective use of grasses impressed upon me that I need to plant more. I can’t believe she overwinters that Begonia, stunning…not a single crispy edge on those leaves! Even this late in the season there was so much to see and appreciate. Thanks again for keeping it real👍.

I just bought a lemon squeeze without a full plan of where I’d put it (shocker), and I walked around my yard and plopped it in front of the ninebark for contrast. So fun to hear that your mom did the same.

Your parent's garden is beautiful! I love the Seven Son Tree. Oh my gosh! Most of the time when you see them for sale they are only about 2 feet tall. That is great you were able to get the b&b. So beautiful - your Mom's garden looks very restful to me; lots of shades of green, wispiness - and the movement from the grasses. Would love to see what it looks like in the Summer too. I have that little pink, ivory, green variegated sedum near the end of video - it's a beauty and fits in anywhere. The Seven Son tree is a beauty. Have only ever seen pics so it's great to see what it actually looks like in someone's garden. Thanks for sharing Erin.

What a wonderful garden. The grasses... oh be still my beating heart! The trio of N. langtrees, V. bonariensis and the grasses is beautiful. The unpruned boxwood are really nice. So often we prune things into submission and miss seeing the beautiful natural habit they have. I am so sad about the Fringe Tree beung a host for Emerald ash borer. I was going to plant one here and local alerts the ash borer has become a major problem here.😢 It's so unfair. That ginger was such a surprise to me. I thought it needed more water, but that is so gorgeous. Your mom's marigolss withe that verbrna and grasses in the bacground was a win I thought. Quite cheerful really.

Are you familiar with Perennial-Garden Staudehaven? They are a couple in Denmark who have lush cottage gardens and do a lot of seed collecting and sowing. Anyway, they have an awesome video from early this spring about staking their plants and how they use sticks and branches in different ways to stake up their tall things. It’s fantastic and would probably work well for you given your not urban location! Your mom’s house and yard is to die for!!❤

Beautiful garden from every point of view! I have a couple of questions for all you Wisconsin gardeners. Are your summers considered cool? I love the Russian Cypress, but am afraid it’s too humid in Southern Indiana where I live. Now, about the grasses…Do you treat for ticks in a garden like this? I am nervous about putting stepping stones through tall grasses like these in our heavily tick infested area. I mean, I know they climb on all kinds of plants, but the gorgeously swaying grasses just seem like a perfect vehicle for the dang pests. Any tips? Thanks for the tour!
