Ever since I moved back to my home town (oak ridge) it’s been so sad to see how many ppl have moved cutting down every beautiful old oak forest we had and all the unique beautiful home tore down just to and build the same mega home in the same type of neighborhood just disheartening to see the death of my small town that turned “suburb” :/ but hopefully with all the new ppl we’ll finally get a Chick-fil-A lol

You are too funny! I LOVE old houses. I can't imagine tearing one down. The cookie cutter neighborhoods are definitely not my favorite for sure! And fingers crossed for a Chick-fil-A! 🤞

Are tornados common in the triad area? Are there sirens, basements etc for that?

This was a fabulous question! I was shocked that we get around 30 a year in the entire state of NC. I would say since I’ve been here in 23 years I only remember about 5 coming through. Some houses have basements or cellars in older homes. We don’t have sirens like in the mid-west because we don’t have them very often.

I lived in this area for 20 years, only a few come through and none of them are gigantic EF4 or EF5's you see out west. an EF3 would be insanely strong for the area but EF1's and 2's yeah but you're talking about under 30 for a huge sq mile area. Take a look at tornado trackers, nothing to really worry about in Oak Ridge tornado wise.
