Belle Isle in the 1960s, good memories. Had a boat at the Detroit Yacht Club-hydroplane races, JL Hudson fireworks, marvelous bridge from the Detroit side. Love the way the Island looks now!

Thanks for sharing! I wish I could time travel and see Detroit back in the day. But as time goes by it almost feels like that as they restore so many old buildings. Thanks for the comment!

Back in the 30s my mom and dad moved to Detroit from northern Michigan, dad worked for Chevrolet and mom as a beautician, they talked often how preAC people would take blankets and pillows to belle isle to sleep on hot summer nights.

I want to state unequivocally that downtown Detroit is safer and cleaner than San Francisco and Los Angeles. I not only compared crime stats by zip code but I also live here and frequent the downtown area.

How did you start your career, Matt?
@LIVINGINDETROITАй бұрын
In real estate? I started with nothing just like anyone else. I used social media to create value to as many people as I could and it worked. Basically just worked really hard and tried to do right by people and the rest figured itself out. I love what I do, I get to help clients sell and buy their homes, and our team get better. I am very lucky. Why do you ask?

Are you a local? Because if you were, you wouldnt have left off the "Hipster Beach" Lagoon and sandbars on the north end of Belle Isle just down from the golf course. That is one of the BEST spots on Belle Isle, but hey... only locals know about it ;)

The water is tested like all lakes and public beaches in Michigan and other areas. Just like many bodies of water you don't want to swim after large rains and floods. However it is mostly clean or as clean as most fresh water in the country at this point!
