I remember the Old Academy well. I actually did the set design for one of their plays. Way back back in 1989. Thanks for the memory. 🙏

I was born and raised in a house at 4028 Ridge Ave. I haven't been able to get back home to East Falls since 2005, but this mini tour LITERALLY made me cry as I watched it with my 5 year old son. Thanks for posting this video.

I grew up on Division Street. My father worked at American Steel which is now the garage at about 1:19. I haven't been back since 2005 and am amazed at the changes. Bill in Denver

Isn’t it heart-breaking how East Fall has changed & gone down hill? It used to be an upscale neighborhood that few people knew existed. And those who DID know, kept it quiet so we’d not be affected by the insanity that befell the other sections of Philadelphia. NOW? Well, now it’s changed since the “College” which also has changed its name far too many times, impacts the character of our once beautiful & friend East Falls. I blame the original college known as: “Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science”, then called Philadelphia University aka (PU- which emobided the trashy class of its students) then part of Hahneman University & now it’s called something else! Even though I still own my grandparents home directly below Ravenhill, I’ll hold offf naming this institution of higher learning as, the name to will surely be changed again. Therefore I’m not quite sure what’s it’s called now. All I CAN SAY is, the Phila. College of Textiles & Science, completely decimated the beautiful PRIVATE GIRL’s school my grade school Alama Mater & that of Grace Kelly’s. Ravenhill Academy, a private school for girls, which made this section of the Falls, the “Beverly Hills” of Philadelphia. The wonderful history of the “Falls” whose history goes as far back as the 17th century, has now become a campus of filth. The school & its stunning 18-19th c.architecture. compeltey destroyed with little more than an administrative building from the Ravenhill days. The old RAVENHILL ACADEMY’s lovely buidlings are all but gone. Incidentally, if you ever notice how poorly the University cares about this neighborhood & about America, just note the high number Illegal Aliens hired by the University’s LANDSCAPER! Bottom line, East Falls was an hidden jewel in Philadelphia, a quiet, well manicured, high-end Middle Class CHRISTIAN & JEWISH neighborhood whose residents knew and cared for and about one another. In less than another decade it’s certain, East Falls ,will go the way the rest of Philly’s once nice neighbourhoods; it’ll become a haven for crime, druggies & filth. What a pity!

I'm pretty sure East Falls is glad not to have classist, racist, bigoted people like you around anymore. I'll take my eclectic and vibrant neighborhood any day :)
