Thank you Juan. Planning my own TOI ride this summer and I appreciate your comments and video. I will go around Bob Smith Trail, by the way. (Shudder!)

Wow, Juan, I just did parts of TID Day 1a and 1b on Sept 3 & 4, 2018... I know exactly what you were feeling on the E. Bob Smith Trail from Beach Hollow (East side of Haystack Mtn) until my buddy and I hit the double track.The trail was hell! Evidently I watched your 4yr old video before because my thumb-up was illuminated in blue! Bob Smith was definitely outside my capabilities on a few sections and my buddy helped me thru them. It is a very challenging section with great exposure risk and high effort to muscle the bike thru some of the rocks-- never again! I am glad to see your video. I am just reviewing some of my clips to salvage for a video for my channel. I had that damn Giant Loop Coyote bag mounted and fully loaded! Too much hell to explain here!

Ahhhman! That's a tough section!!!

I think you were holding back your feces quite well while recording... one can't display lack of sanity or confidence on this section. We were exhausted (hot, sweaty, winded) and never realized we would see relentless obstacles after the 1st exposure section. Uphill rock pegs strikes and overgrown brush were always a risk and necessitated extreme caution to avoid dropping bike down slope. I don't recommend anyone do this section solo! At least you didn't have ~35+lbs of Coyote bag mounted!

This part of the Trek is where I grew up learning how to ride single track. I can get to this from my back yard haha. Never imagined I could get clear to Canada from my house if I was dedicated enough.

GREAT videos on your solo riding on the Tour of Idaho. How about some info on where you stayed at night, where you found gas, and such? Would you consider the trek to be too tough if carrying 75 lbs. of camping gear? How did you arrange to do these section with no gear to speak of? Let me know if you'd like some company one rides such as this in the future. I did Baja solo a number of times many years ago before the highway was put in. Solo was scary the first time. I admire your guts doing it solo.

Great vids of your treck. I like your honesty about the trails and your ability, I would also consider myself a "C" rider. Sucks your out there solol, if you ride it again next year let me know, I could add it to my bucket list.

Thanks! definitely a Bucket List Item. Solo brings additional challenges and rewards. It's fairly easy to hook up other riders on the TID if you are flexible. Keep in touch re next year...

blancolirio I'm thinking of making the T3 trip on my XR650R in the middle of June. Do you think it will be too early in the year? Would you like to do the ride again? As of right now I'm solo. 350x your welcome to join as well.

blancolirio Sounds good to me. I'm in the Logan, Utah area. I'm leaving for some training with the navy at the end of June, so it will have to be mid June. Lets put something together and put some miles on that 690.

More beautiful scenery and excellent choice of music (also Flight of the Valkyries). You mentioned some of the trails were considered "black diamond" and you rated your skills at "C", so these would be intermediate or above in difficulty, yes? Thanks for your editorial comments in the vids, too.
@blancolirio
@blancolirio 9 жыл бұрын
+osimnod Yep, Thanks! they'd be considered black diamond by California standards, and are just regular trails in Idaho...It's steep country with lots of 'exposure'.

+blancolirio I watched your Downieville NCWR video -- that is no walk in the park! If that isn't black diamond along the river bed, I don't want to see it. Soil myself! Am sure you've seen OffRoadRider15f's videos in NoCal?
@blancolirio
@blancolirio 9 жыл бұрын
+osimnod Yes, OffRoadRider15f (I'm proud to say) is a friend of mine and HE is a AA rider, former championship enduro racer...you can learn alot riding with him (but mere mortal riders like me can't keep up with him). The Downieville trails are exactly the kind of trails you need to be very comfortable with before tackling Idaho or the Tour of Idaho.
