Scrolling through youtube and found your videos. I arrived here Memorial Day weekend after being assigned to a US Destroyer [USS Perry DD-844] at Mayport. I remained here another 2 years after being discharged Aug. 12, 1972, then went home to Long Island, NY. After a week up there, I headed back to the Beaches [Seminole Beach [Hanna Park], Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jax Beach, and Ponte Vedra Beach. A few years later I was written up a few times in the Times Union by a reporter, Bob Phelps, regarding my attempts to get the Beaches island named. If you start at the GA border heading South, there's Amelia Island, Little and Big Talbot Islands, then take the ferry from Ft George Island to Mayport, then S on A1A to Vilano Beach, over the bridge through St Augustine and the Bridge of Lions onto Anastasia Island. From all that effort, some decided that they could get the island restructured as a new County which didn't materialize. Oh yeah, like St Johns and Duval want to lose that tax revenue! To this day, this 'long island' has never been named since it was created by the construction of the Intracoastal canal through Palm Valley. Richard Rizzo

Great video beings I'm born and raised here. Yes Jax beach has gotten so much better. It was so so in the 80s but it definitely needed a facelift and so it's been rebuilt and restructured and still doing things to improve...✌❤

I’m from south Florida, my mom from Atlanta GA and my whole family live there, it’s a 12 hour drive to see my fam, I’m tryna convince her to move up north so it’s a shorter drive 😂😂😂

Depends, if you saw the old one on 6th south. That park they show at the end was the original location. A hurricane and a fire destroyed the original. It feature the best breakfast in the world. Lockers and a few arcade games. But yes its under construction after the last hurricane. I believe Mathew?

During the day Jax beach is quite calm with many local residents, however at night and on the weekends it is an extremely lively place to be!
