I was lucky enough to get a similar tour from Delores Rhoads back in 1989. She had me sign a book they kept out for visitors. She told me so many great stories about Randy and before I left she signed one of the schools business cards. I wish I had video or even a camera! She spent about two hours with me.

That place needs to be turned into a museum. Randy's memory must be preserved for future generations, even now he is becoming more and more underrated, partly due to the sheer magnitude of his greatness overwhelming what praise he does receive today.

Randy is not becoming underrated. He is hailed as one of The Best Ever.
@dr.j5642
@dr.j5642 2 жыл бұрын
@@davidmerlin3344 Yes, he is hailed as one of the best ever, but that means little if the list of "the best ever" is over 100 guitarists long. His greatness is definitely diluted nowadays. Randy is akin to a Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant like figure among guitarists in my opinion, and that gets lost among so many metal and hardrock fans today. What makes it even more tragic is that the studio recordings of Randy's work does not really do his playing any kind of justice. I have myself converted several people on Randy, who didn't really hold him in high regard, and didn't understand the fanfare, because they had never heard the Tribute Album, which is the only album which truly captures the magic of Randy's playing, with its tone, clarity, and sheer aggression.

Jordan, great interview. And for Kelle to let you hold that 1st electric guitar Randy played really is an honor...Kelle doesn't let just anyone touch let alone SEE stuff like that that is so sentimental to the Rhoads family. I've personally gotten to know Kelle and Kathy and Richard I'd say last 4-5 years through musician friends of mine that perform in the Randy Rhoads Remembered gig that Brian Tichy puts together. The Rhoads family are the nicest most down to earth people's I've ever met, and that as well goes for Nick & Jenna D'argenzio as well

I’m a longtime guitar teacher. I know Randy inspired legions of guitar players…as he did me, but he also inspired me as a teacher; the care he put into it…the importance he put on scales, technique…exercises; theory etc….I wanted the same success. I recall reading he had 35 weekly students…which for me at the time seemed unfathomable…so when I achieved it..I felt I arrived…and I’ve maintained that for decades. Fast forward to today…I got my own music school..and my pastel Randy drawing from high school is on the wall of my studio. What a loss…but an incredibly blessing Randy was to everyone he knew…so it certainly seems.

Wow! This made me smile the whole time watching until he said he doesn't let anyone hold the guitar but he would let you, that made me cry. This is an absolutely incredible exchange. I'm so happy for you that you got the opportunity to go do that. The guy is like a unicorn. You just don't meet such genuine and generous human beings like that too often. Rudy Sarzo is another super talented and sweet person. My ex husband's band got to open up for Quiet Riot, on the east coast not too long before Kevin passed. I was mesmerized by Rudy's performance. I only took a few pictures (back in the film days) and there was an orb and an interesting fog by Rudy. I posted one of them on Facebook and Rudy liked it. That made my day.

I visited the school in 1997. 4 of us flew out from Toronto to L.A. I called mrs. Rhoads, set up an appointment, we went the next day and met her. She gave us 45 minutes. She was an absolutely stellar person. She answered questions, we had a great visit. Being the Randy freak that I am, this was unbelievable to me. I was at Randy's cemetery for his 30th memorial, with a buddy of mine. Met Kelle, Kathy, and Frankie Banali . My friend had it set up with Kelly Garni, that we would take him out to lunch up the street. So we took him and his buddy to a Mexican restaurant, and we each did a 10 question video interview with him. Cool guy. These were the biggest things that I ever did. The latest big thing is I'm pretty soon getting a polka-dot v from Karl Sandoval , who made Randy's v. I have been a Randy nut since Blizzard of Ozz . Randy is the greatest!!

Hey Jordan. You probably won't see this, considering the age of this video, but I'm so glad I found it. I've been watching some of your videos. Very cool stuff. It's very nice to find out you're so interested in music, as I am. I'm 50, play mainly bass now but started on guitar. And I started on guitar because I heard Eddie and Randy in VH and QR - BO (before Ozzy), respectively. It was all over for me after that. I've seen Kelle in interviews before, but this was by far the best and most personal. Randy's first electric guitar! I learned a bunch of things when I thought I had it all down. The nanny being the one in the plane was a surprise! And I didn't know it was for pictures, although Randy being into photography doesn't surprise me. A lot of musicians get into it, including me. Going to visit the school is on my bucket list, and seeing it here was awesome. Thanks!

Great video man! very nice Q&A, Randy was a real guitar god, i'm a very old fan and for me it's mindblowing to see some of his stuff, the room he used to teach, just amazing. Kelle looks a very nice person, loved to hear those great histories! cheers from Brasil bro.

i was just thinking.. maybe it was 88? sigh.. i guess i could google to see when randy rhoads tribute concert played in Portland or to find the exact date/year.. maybe i should do that for correctness.

Loved this! I had a Randy Rhoads poster on my wall all through my teenage years. It was a great picture of him holding his guitar, and I wanna say a pinkish-red background. Anyways, enjoyed this very much... Thanks Kelle and Jordan!

Just finished watching. Very cool. You don't know a ton about Randy (like us oldtimers) and I think that's why Kelle was so open to you. I've been to the crash site and spent time with Jerry Calhoun. The place is beautiful, peaceful and serene. I'm sure Randy was enticed by the area and had the assurance that Rachael was along for the ride. Andy made a bad judgement in a plane that is notoriously unforgiving sadly. Peace to all.

Oh my goodness. I'm just seeing this. Dec,27,2022. Jordan I love your Vlogs, this is one I got caught up in, I was Amazed. I really wanted it to go on. I could of listened to Kelley talk for a hour. The stories,the memories he has. Could never written and only he could tell. Awesome. There is History in that Place. Randy is still Very Much Loved. Ace sat here hoping to see Randy's Guitar.atleasr we got to see the first Guitar he played. Randy was A Angel You might say he was too good for this world. He was clearly a Genius. Gone much too soon. I've never seen my husband get so excited. He used play backup in a band. His parents gave him his first guitar at 16. He's been all over the world. Scotland might of been the last place he played. He loved it, he was set up attacked, it scared me so bad that he just stopped touring. Thank you Jordan. Yes we saw your vlog about Randy's crypt and his mom. Yes Ace has been there. He idolized Randy.🙂 RIP Randy.🙏🕊🕯❤🦋🌠✨🌹💐. Love,respect and positivity always. Neita,Ace and family. ✌🖖💕🙂👋.
