Oren, I like your content, but please read my comment. First, there were sacrifices that were not animal sacrifices in the temple. Second, sacrifices were never meant to atone for an intentional sin, only for accidental. So, basically, sacrifices are only related thanking G-d and atoning for accidental sins. Third, it wasn’t the rabbis who came up with the concept of prayer replacing sacrifices, it was one of the prophets of Tanakh, who said that there would be time when Jews wouldnt have temple and instead they should pray. Oren, I know it’s a very sensitive topic. But hear me out. You are falling into a trap of learning about Judaism from non Jewish sources. It’s a fact that Jews were not well liked almost anywhere, and to think that what you read about Judaism from Christians or atheists has anything to do with reality is not fair, at the least. Think about it, how much do you learn about Christianity from Islam? Do you go to Quran to learn about Jesus? No, you go to Christian sources and try to make sense of them, maybe with the help of some historical records. The comment you said about Jews only caring about the rules and not about suffering, service and sacrifice. Honestly, I found it offensive. Amish will teach the Jews about suffering??? What are Amish sacrificing? Electricity? We have our sons dying everyday to be able to identify as Jews. Service? Yes, I know Amish know about service. But so do the Jews. If you tried to live in an orthodox Jewish community for a few months, you would know that chessed is not a theoretical concept in those places. Everyone encouraged to do it from young to old all the time. And they do it all the time.

If only all three Abrahamic faiths understood that God asks man to sacrifice his own ego. The notion for a physical child is the old Satanic trap. By the way, Satan can't oppose God as he was born out of it and will be converted eventually.

Judaism, like Hinduism and Buddhism are very old thinking systems. Islam was created in a single generation by a warlord claiming affiliation with Abraham even and repurposing his temple to his God Ba'al as a temple to "Allah" but somehow keeping all the ancient practices and then vowing destruction on the followers of the original texts. It's ultimate evil.

That Amish preacher did a good job by telling you the three S-s. Your development of it is a good thing to have done. Especially the point that we stop thinking of ourselves to give ourselves up for another. I have been very glad that Jesus gave himself up for the benefit of those who will accept his sacrifice on their behalf. And, as such, he has every right to return as the conquering Messiah--on his terms and in his own time. Your explanation of that gives a good reason for me to accept his sacrifice and death--from which God raised him to life again--so that he can justifiably return to claim that which he deserves. A good tour you have done of the history of sacrifice.

@ there is a difference between one time viewer and audience. A person with IQ equal to the size of his shoe, or body heat, won’t be visiting Astrophysics lectures. They may hide during the lecture, once, from the rain outside, but they won’t be the audience. Oren’s videos, none of them, are friendly to low minded people. These usually spit an insult and vanish. That’s my opinion about Oren and not about his audience, btw.

One day everyone will know that we should not take away human nor animal lives. We must only have dominance and consent over our own lives. Only terrible pain or defence is permission to kill. Anything else contravenes Genesis 1 and the prayer of Jesus, "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven". Ruling the earth is meant to be caring for the world and creatures, as well as each other. Jesus took the place of all sacrifice. And there is no mention of him offering sacrifices. Instead he drove the moneychangers from the temple and freed all the animals there. He was the last lamb to be sacrificed. He did it for us and the animals. That is my belief. I tell it out of love, not judgement. Thank you, Oren. Bless you.

I like that. That was enlightening. I never realized the expression "he died for our sins" was tied into the tradition of sacrifice and "scapegoating". What is fascinating is that for Jews the Messiah had to be triumphant. For the Christians the humiliation made Jesus seem more human. As a Jew this is food for thought. Does humiliation by someone else make us less? Or is good meant to be so strong that it cannot be defeated? I'm certain both points of view are valid. Always a caef Oren!

Very interesting, and as you say, so much to consider around this subject, both good and bad. What blew my mind when I first heard it was why Jesus was born in a stable and not a house or other human dwelling place, why didn't /couldn't God prepare a room for Mary and Joseph... It wasn't because there was no room at the Inn, that he was born in a stable but the other way round, there was no room at the Inn because Jesus as the lamb of God needed to be born where other lambs were born, in a stable (or cave or whatever the situation was) it was a sign, a message, just aswas the firstto see him, were shepherds. 💝
