The lift would've been installed in 1990 / 1991 because the Glades and Boots opened in October 1991. I think that lift was meant to be the lift in Boots but because it is a walk through shop linking the Glades to Widmore Road, the only place Boots could put their storage and staff area is at the back of the lower floor where the lift is.

You ask at 7:13 why the glass has been misted over, the reason they did that was because before about 2002 the lower floor was a food court and water fountain and a large balcony and other shops where Zara is. When Time 4 pets, the restaurant next to it, Zara and Viva La Foto came the lower and upper mall back of the lifts were boxed in so all you would be able to see is Viva La Foto until you get to car park 3/4

In my area's shopping mall, there is 6 schindler lift. 4 are passenger lift and 2 are goods lift.

The M-Series in Westfield Carindale David Jones here in Australia appears to have suffered a similar fate (at least for the duration of the redevelopment of David Jones) as the spooky Schindler at 9:56. Like the Schindler here, the David Jones Schindler was left on 1, had its indicator working, but call buttons would have no effect. I'd say both lifts were left on out of service mode; the David Jones Schindler has a keyswitch that says "Lift Service".

door sound on the first lift is fun. second lift looks futuristic. more of that third must be made. fourth lift is ok. indicator is the best part of the generics. misted schindlers really should be open. they look nice otherwise. spooky schinder should an outside light. door could be fixed also. those kefles are nice. they are neat. your filming through the P&D lift window was fun. mislabeled elevator looks nice too.

The Otis 2000 VF is the best lift because it starts at Lower Mall Mezzanine Waterstones Upper Mall and Waterstones and Car Park 1 and Car Park 2

MRL stands for motor room less, which means that the motor is attached to the top of the lift shaft and there is no motor room. MR means reduced motor room (since "MR" is shorter than "Motor Room"), this means that the motor is sitting on a beam at the top of the shaft. Nowadays the only new lifts that still have a motor room are retro fit replacements, hydraulics, and high speed lifts. I haven't been to Derby yet. I didn't know there was a westfields there.

+benobve hi, :) yes, the lifts there are Otis, but I don't know what model, and there are some ecodiscs too, :) also, there is a really odd lift in hobby craft in derby, it has a ramp leading up to the car entrance, and the door opens manually, i've never seen a lift that has that. :)

this is why I like these Schindler's. Also some newer Schindler's move that nice and don't waste time and don't need to level. Therefore the Schindler's in the Post Tower ae very nice - but they are secure - they wouldn't let me into the building giving my channel it's name.

If you visit this place again, you will be disappointed. All of the Schindlers (except the one in Debenhams) have just been modernised, the one in boots replaced, and the Leisure Centre ones have been completely modernized by Temple Lifts.

Not sure to be honest as it was very busy when I went so I didn't go inside them, all I know is that they have black Dewhurst call buttons and digital inidcators now.

To follow up on this, I went here again today, and it seems the fixtures inside the lifts are still completely original (for now, anyway). The new external indicators have a major flaw in that they do not display the direction the lift is going when it arrives, unlike the old Schindler ones, so it's now impossible to know if the lift is going up or down. One of the indicators has already developed a fault is is displaying a garbled mess when CP1 and CP2 is displayed. The indicators and call buttons on the 2006 generic lifts in the middle of the centre have now also been replaced.

The glass Schindlers outside of boots have also had fixtures replaced outside on all floors, not sure about inside as I didn't go in them, probably still original like the other set. The one inside Boots was horribly modernized a while ago, and looks like everything has been replaced. The indicators are those LCD ones that display the date and time in the Times-New-Roman font.

Yes, the one in Debenhams is still completely original. The one in H&M is a much newer MRL and was never a Schindler M-series.
