Tour our home with the Kobold VR100

The Vorwerk Kobold VR100 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is an adapted version of the original Neato XV-11. It navigates using a laser that scans the room, and methodically and efficiently coves all accessible floor space. It can really be considered a vacuum cleaner, unlike its better known competition, which are all sweepers with a light vacuum to retain the swept dust. This robot removes the need for manual vacuuming, so for a house with 4 floors like ours, this really makes life easier. We consider it like our washing machine or dishwasher; would you manually hand wash your clothes, would you manually vacuum clean your floor?

I don't see that. Dust can be blown around by the exhaust though. Not a big deal if you run it regularly, which you can do given there is no effort needed.

As of May 2012 it's still only available in Germany. Main differences are i) side brush vs. no side brush, ii) mixed bristle/flap main brush vs. rubber flap only main brush, iii) Li-ion batteries vs. Ni-Mh, iv) Hepa type filter vs. cloth filter.

Hi Osityan, don´t know but you could order the brush (much quiter on hardfloor than the neato´s one) and the filter in the Vorwerk Shop. I replaced those things and the dust bin in my neato XV 11 and it run´s without problems. Regards

I have never run it on a single run from full to flat, so can't say for sure. My floor space is just not large enough; biggest is about 75m squared. I know from reading up about it that you can expect about 1h10m though. It takes about 50-55 minutes to do my 75m squared. So on laminate, I guess it could cover about 100m squared on one charge. It then recharges and starts where it left off. Charge time is almost identical to run time.

Yeah but this one (unlike Neato) stay pretty close to the edges and corners, reducing greatly the need for side brushes. I think this is the best one around, from the videos I saw. The second alternative is a Roomba with lighthouses. The problem is the price.

Nice G27 rig you got there... say does it run the Neato software or does it needs the Kobold's software. I don't really get it, is it just a hardware upgraded XV-11/12/14/15/etc.?

I think the rigth brush may rise dust in the air which is not collected by the robot. What you think?

Great video. Since the last firmware update the VR handles corners much better. It sets back to take the corner again in a more efficient angle. Seems to be a very effective update!

I believe the XV-21 has the HEPA filter and mixed bristle/flap main brush and you can buy those as a kit to install on your XV-11. However I read somewhere that the VR100 has a much more powerful vacuum possibly thanks to the Li-Ion Battery.

Side brush is the biggest thing that my XV-11 is missing..... Glad to see they have addressed this issue now!

Hi. Yes it's a hardware upgraded Neato. It can be bought in the U.S. under the Neato brand name, but without the hardware upgrades such as the side brush (at least last time I looked). As mentioned, the latest downloadable software upgrade now has it navigating much better, particularly corners, which it now pushes flat into. I also returned mine under warranty and it came back with softer rubber wheels, so no more sticking on transitions. It's laughable to think the Rooma is more intellegent.
