I had a stress test in Dec 2020 and I didn't walk on the treadmill for it. Wasn't to bad at all and my mom had this done many years ago.

Any issues with the tsa security or when flying ? What do you think about the differences between you, a radiation therapist .... I guess with regard to respect and income? Would it be an easy transition from your position to Docimetry?
@UndeniablyMee2 жыл бұрын
No issues with TSA. I am not becoming radioactive from my job, I’m only temporarily exposing myself to radiation at certain times. I honestly don’t know much about the career field of a radiation therapist, but I do know that it is very different than nuclear medicine. And I’m assuming you mean becoming a Medical Dosimetrist? There are specific educational programs for literally each field. So one can not transition from nuc med to dosimetry. You would have to go to schooling specific for whichever job you’re interested in.

This is scary. I just had a test yesterday full bone scan with the radiopharma medicine but for some reason I feel like complete shit. Is this normal?
@penguinkiller142 жыл бұрын
The radiation dose that they give you should not give you any side effects. The amount of radiation that a patient receives is so minuscule in comparison to what’s harmful. If you felt bad afterwards it’s highly unlikely that it was from the radiopharmaceutical I know this comment was five months too late but I hope this gives you some comfort or resolve
@UndeniablyMee2 жыл бұрын
Yeah OldManJ is correct. The injection you receive is a VERY small amount and low energy radiation. It is tagged with medicine that looks like calcium in the body. It has no effect, therefore there are no side effects. Sounds like a coincidence. Hope you felt better fast! And hope your results came back great.

What happens when you get preg by accident or trying to conceive and afterwards 🤔
@UndeniablyMee2 жыл бұрын
Women in these career fields become pregnant all the time. You will have the option of asking for an additional radiation badge to monitor the exposure to your baby. There’s a certain limit that your baby’s exposure should fall under. And you are given the report monthly. Obviously you’ll want to reduce your exposure as much as you can. Your coworkers will handle more of the hands on radiation handling while you may perform the other 85% of the job.

What's the radiation exposure risk in your job?
@UndeniablyMee2 жыл бұрын
Pretty much the same as any radiation modality. X-ray, CT, etc.

I got a Neck ct with and without contrast I called the imaging center to see how much radiation i received. They said 287.8 milligrays. Now i’m worry is that a normal amount? Is it a high dose? I keep worrying about it. I’m scared if i get cancer. I regret the ct scan very much. Does that mean the amount of radiation i absorbed? will it stay in my body? Have you or someone you know ever gotten a ct scan
@erinbrooke15783 жыл бұрын
A CT scan is not going to give you enough radiation to cause immediate health effects. The diagnostic benefits far outweigh the risk of radiation exposure. A typical head/neck CT uses 1-2 millisieverts which translates the same in milligray. Whoever you spoke to must have misinformed you because that dose would be the same as getting over 100-200 CTs.
@UndeniablyMee2 жыл бұрын
What Erin commented is absolutely correct. One scan, even 10 scans is not nearly enough to cause any issues such as cancer. Radiation does not accumulate inside of your body, you’re only exposed to the radiation and then you’re not. You can also google examples of what things you receive radiation from every day. As humans living on earth, we are exposed to radiation everywhere we go.

What’s the difference between nuclear medicine technician and nuclear medicine radiologist which one do you prefer in terms of jobs salaries..
@UndeniablyMee2 жыл бұрын
A Radiologist is a doctor. A nuclear Medicine Technologist* is a tech.
