This tour was the coolest thing ever. I'm a native Californian-I thought Florida would be similar to Calif but it's so dramatically different! I love the canals--giving so many more people the ability to live a life on water, enjoy boating one their doorsteps without having to be a billionaire. Southern Calif has become an inland nightmare for working/middle-class people and a paradise for celebrities, doctors, and heirs in the coastal strip of land where cool breezes flow in from the water. This canal is so pretty and your film made me think I could feel the wonderful fresh air and moisture (I accidentally moved to a desert I'll never escape). I love the areas with all the trees--those trees at the end are interesting--if anyone knows what they are could they post? At the very end along the wall and at the floating dock--the ones with long needles in clumps? Two very tall types of trees that obviously can take salty water? Do you have crocodiles in that water? Alligators? Can you watch thru the water to see the life? It's so shallow compared to California beach waters--the land shelf drops off so steeply it's way over your head 10 feet from the sand at Malibu, Laguna, even Zuma. Anyway, thank-you for the great education on Florida--I'll never get there due to health problems, so I live vicariously on the web. This was a wonderful cruise! You rock!

Great informative, well-captured and produced content. This is a very nice addition to your live stream channel. Already excited about the slow trip to the south. Your live stream has become one of our "go to" channels to enjoy our morning coffee with. Sometimes we even turn up the volume (so we can hear the natural wildlife) and nap to it. Very relaxing. Also found the dredging/pumping of the "muck" interesting. Thank you for the awesome channel. Austin in Clearwater, Florida USA 🐬

Hi Chad. I will call the guard house to see if they know. I once called them to ask about vertical clearance, and they had not idea, so don't get your hopes up. You could visually estimate because you know that right now the vertical clearance is about 10 feet. I'll call though...

Are there any undeveloped lots along this route? Most of the homes look well-established so I'm assuming no new construction? Does the city pay for the dredging? I also wondered if the homeowners pay into an association for any upkeep of the canals. Thank you. I am so impressed with all of the preservation.
@SatelliteBeachLive
@SatelliteBeachLive Жыл бұрын
Hi linahill7341. If there are any undeveloped lots, I don't know about them. Brevard County pays for dredging and is currently in a major dredge of the Grand Canal and tributary canals. Some of these communities have HoAs, but some do not...depends on the specific subdivision. Hope that answers your questions!

Very happy I watched this. How's the water for swimming? Are there sharks, gators or crocs? If we had a house there or went camping on that island is there any chances of a gator might be there? What about venomous snakes and large constrictor python type snakes? Would you please recommend any inexpensive/affordable RV campgrounds nearby there? Are there 25m-50m lap swimming pools and waterparks nearby? What about tennis courts/centers ? How'd that area fair from the latest most recent super heavy rainfall we had? It looks like that entire area would be flooded out and completely devastated after a hurricane?? Thank you again, keep safe & healthy, God bless 🌞🌳🌲

Hi @Hundert1. People do swim in this water in summer, but it's not especially clear like the Caribbean. There are no sharks, except babies, but there are occasional gators. Sometimes a dog gets eaten, but I have never heard of a problem with gators and people here. If you went camping, it it unlikely you would see a gator, since gators like fresh water, but it's possible. There are fewer venomous snakes than most of FL, but there are occasional water moccasins. I have never seen one. No large pythons! I have to plead ignorance of RV campgrounds, but I am sure Google could find you some! There are no water parks that I know of nearby, but of course, there are many in Orlando with all of the theme parks there. There are local tennis courts both private and public. The rain does not affect us much. The ground is sandy and porous so water drains quickly. Even after a hurricane, water does not stand in ditches for long. Happy to answer any other questions!

@SatelliteBeachLive LOL, no sharks "except babies."😅 Don't the babies grow up to become full-size predators, though? Thanks for your thorough and prompt response 👍I hear some friends of mine are now doing a paddling training camp around there. I think in, at or right, near Indian Harbour Beach. Not sure where they're staying, though. We use the super thin, long, tippy race type kayaks. The protected, flat, peaceful, wind free, wake free waterways are ideal for canoeists, kayakers, and crew rowing. It's especially possible to capsize with these type boats, and I'm scared to be grabbed by some kinda creatures 😅 We have relatives living in Naples Florida, but they're golfers. I also know a guy who has a fruit farm in Citra. I think that livestream you have is a fantastic idea. I only saw the one with the beautiful Christmas Music though. I thought you had several cameras covering all around the waterway areas? How do we watch those? Thanks again very much. 👍🌲

@@Hundert1 Just to clarify on sharks...the sharks, like the red fish, tarpon and other big fish only live in the canals and Intracoastal when they are young. When they get big, they go out into the Atlantic, so we don't worry about sharks in the canal system at all! Regarding livestreams, there are 3 up right now that you can see on the channel home page at the top. Here is the URL: kzbin.info One is the Relaxing Christmas Music and Scenes, one is the Eau Gallie River and the other is the primary stream which shows rotating cameras on the Grand Canal in Satellite Beach. I did have a weather livestream with cams up during the summer, but when the weather turns cold here, the weather gets pretty boring, so I took it down for now. I am always interested in observations from viewers, so any suggestions are welcomed!

@SatelliteBeachLive That's very interesting regarding the sharks & big fish. How do they get in there to begin with? Do their full-size parents swim in there just for giving birth, then immediately return to the big Atlantic? If so, there's a chance the big parent might wanna grab a nice meal. But I'm very glad to hear y'all feel totally safe from being attacked from any big fish in there. I remember one year a week or so before Christmas I drove to Bradenton FL to visit a tennis camp. I was the only one who went swimming in the pools. The locals couldn't believe it, even though the pools were heated. They said it's so cold. I'm told em y'all gotta be kidding me. I explained I'm from New York and compared to our winter it was warm and so comfortable, why not go swimming. Thanks again for your efforts. I'll check out your video link. Best

@@Hundert1 I have to plead ignorance of the mating patterns of the sharks and big fish. I do know that I have never heard of any sharks in either the canals or rivers, but there's probably a blurred line between where the rivers end and the Atlantic begins. I also know that there are small versions of those big fish that get caught by fishermen that live around here.
