I have to amend my cons of Satelite Beach. Basically it's a beach community and it cost more to live then not being on the beach. My biggest con was because of paying for parking but I went to the city's website and downloaded PDF showing the reason to charge to park it became clear. I get it now and after seeing what how some who visit vandalize the bathrooms, make huge messes and leave trash on the beach, the $10/day is a deal. The vandals and lazy people ruin it for ALL. But as a frequent beach goer, it's not always the out of towners who leave a mess, I've seen it first hand and had a couple of conversations with the the lazy that refuse to pick up after themselves. Some were nice, some not so much. Their logic is that's what the city taxes us for so the out of towners are paying for the lazy that live in town. It's not perfect and I get it. On a busy weekend there are more out of towners that just keep on overflowing the trash cans instead of finding another place to put it. IMO paying for parking should only be on the weekends and holidays since that is when non locals show up and do the wrong thing. BTW I'm a fisherman and it's costing more and more everyday

It's great that you've had a chance to reconsider your perspective on Satellite Beach. Your insights about parking fees and the challenges with beachgoer behavior are valuable. It's true that the actions of a few can affect the experience for everyone. Your suggestion of weekend and holiday parking fees to address non-local visitors seems reasonable and fair. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

The rocks are one of the big reasons Satellite Beach exists. The original founders wanted to get away from more crowded areas and knew the rocks would deter many from coming. There's a four part history of Satellite Beach on KZbin.
