Tour Yoshi's Island - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Music Extended

With course elements datamined prior to its appearance, and the platform code of "mobYI" also found in Mario Kart Tour's files, Yoshi's Island makes a very early debut on the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass. If anything, we're more than likely getting this in Tour through the annual Yoshi Tour they always tend to do.
The original version from Mario Kart Tour was added to the game in April 4th., 2023.
This course is a complete love letter to Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island for the SNES (and GBA under the name Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island, but that's a topic for another time). From the music to the sound effects and the aesthetic, everything pays tribute to a beloved classic.
Now, let me give you an explanation as to why this is a Tour course:

Let me quickly explain why “Tour Yoshi’s Island” is technically not a mistake. Assets related to Yoshi’s Island (the flower ring, for example) is datamined for Tour a few months before Yoshi’s Island’s official debut. This track’s internal name is “mobyi”. Mob stands for mobile, which is what Tour is on. If it was a SNES track for example, the internal name for a track should be “SFC” (SFC is the Super Famicon over in Japan, aka the SNES.) Since Yoshi’s Island’s internal name has “mob”, it means that it’s supposed to be a Nitro from Tour that made it’s debut in BCP first. Sky-High Sundae was the same case as Yoshi’s Island, making it’s series debut in the BCP first before it was made available in Tour a week after. However, despite being marketed as new in 8DX, Tour also regarded it as a new track. SHS’s internal name- “mobib” also has mob, a consistent trend with Tour nitros, even with cities. So when Yoshi’s Island DOES make it over to Tour, they would also advertise it as a new course for Tour as well, thus making this a Tour nitro.

@@NintenJoeGamer Have you even read the explanation? If a track starts with “mob” in it’s internal name, it’s a Tour track. If it was a 8DX track, then it would’ve used “U” (Wii U internal name, even the Switch battle tracks use this) instead of “Mob”.

@@NintenJoeGamer Let me give you a refresher here in case you didn't read the comment: If a course has the "mob" name on the internal files, it means *mobile*. For one, Mario Kart Tour is a mobile game. Ninja Hideaway and Merry Mountain have the lables "mobNM" (mobile Ninja Mansion) and "mobHC" (mobile Hill Climb). Sky-High Sundae also has a label, named "mobIB" (mobile Ice Building), which goes to show it was a Tour course from the beginning. Now, Ninja Hideaway and Merry Mountain debuted in Tour first, while Sky-High Sundae also has the label in it. If we apply this to Yoshi's Island, which has the internal name of "mobYI" (mobile Yoshi's Island) in Mario Kart Tour's files as well, this makes the course a clear Tour Nitro as it has the "mob" name, which is given to courses ORIGINATING in Tour. And once again, 'mob' stands for "mobile" in Tour's files.

Yes, but considering that all the non-city nitros are all unlabeled in 8 Deluxe (including the ones that came to Tour first), and considering Nintendo’s marketing tends to do the same, I think it’s just easier to go with however Nintendo officially labels them. The “Mobyi” name was datamined, it was never intended to be seen by the end user. Clearly Nintendo wants people to think of all the non-city Tour tracks as nitro courses for 8 Deluxe, even if they came to Tour first. Some of these, like Sky-High Sundae and Yoshi’s Island, came to 8 Deluxe first, others like Ninja Hideaway, Merry Mountain, and Piranha Plant Cove came to Tour first. However, in-game as well as within Nintendo’s marketing, they’re considered nitros for both games.

Even I, who has never played the games this track is themed after (only seen some gameplay footage at best), could feel all the happy nostalgia practically radiating from the entire thing from the very first time I played it. You can just tell they put love into it, recreating everything like that. The doodly visuals of everything in the track, the sound effects, the environments, the enemy hazards along the path, and of course the music, really all just comes together so amazingly. When I went to beat the time trial ghost for the track, I HAD to do it as Yoshi. And it took me a good few tries, but man was it worth it. I can only imagine how awesome this track must feel for anyone who did play the games, wether in their childhood or not.

I'm happy to see people defending the fact that nitro tracks in the BCP are from Tour. I feel like most of the people who believe that they are from 8D are just biased because they dislike Mario Kart Tour, that may not be true for everyone though. I really love Yoshi's Island (the game) so that course automatically became my numbre one favorite course in the whole series. I played this game again for the first time since the Wii U days a few days ago visiting my sister. When we got to the character select screen and saw they brought Birdo back (one of my Double Dash mains), I was ecstatic! I missed playing as her so much and got super hyped being able to play as her in what felt like forever! Anyway, I was going through the Birdo colors and she tells me she's going to pick the track because they added "something better than Birdo". At this point, my most missed character was already back, so I couldn't even imagine what else could have been added that would top having her playable. It was this track. A fucking Yoshi's Island track. Not just my favorite SNES game, Nintendo game, or even platformer, but my favorite video game of all time. Complete with original sound effects, Yoshi coins, Raphael the Raven's castle, the goal ring, the clear song from the original game, and all that topped off on a great course. Yes. This track. Added in the same patch as my favorite Mario character (tied with Wario). I.... Still can't believe it to be honest. Hell, I don't even know what else to day, aside from it being absolutely thrilling to come back to all of this... ❤
