I love my TourBox for Resolve and Audacity (both using my custom presets/hot keys). I've been recommending it to my fellow editors/producers - great time saver. It has certainly made my editing work in both Audacity and Resolve faster - and easier. One more point: it also reduces the amount of clicking my right-hand track ball requires, thus reducing stress on my right-hand index finger.

I use ShuttlePROv2 + ExpertKeys console for edit fast, so I have 96 mechanical programmable keys with Resolve functions (48x2)+15 additional keys from the very precise Shuttle+DualDial. I'm happy with all that power. I think the Blackmagic SpeedConsole is incredible for handling the multi-camera
@theancientvoice9272 Жыл бұрын
The ShuttlePROv2 is a great device, I like the overall design and the features, but it seems to have a weak to nearly absent support from the manufacturer. Maybe because its quite old now. Also the button clear covers are so fragile and it's almost impossible to find replacement when they break.

I received my TourBox yesterday, I think it's going to be a game-changer for me, I'm right handed and have an injury and a minor op in June, it's still very painful using the scroll wheel for even a few minutes so being able to transfer that work to my left hand should help me work while my hand heals. Thank Alex.

I have been using the Davinci Resolve speed editor for 2 months now. The speed and ease of editing has increased dramatically. Trimming footage before and after adding to the edit page is much easier. The Tourbox doesn’t seem to match the Davinci in quality and ease of use. The Tourbox seems like a bit of a task to setup. The advantage of the Tourbox is you can set it up how you like whereas the Speed Editor is fixed. The Tourbox is cheaper but if you need Davinci Resolve Studio you get it for free (if the offer is still available). Thanks for the review. Enjoyable and informative.

@NeilHesterSkateboarding4 жыл бұрын
Seems like the same concept as the Contour Design Shuttle Pro or Loupdeck, the shortfall with these is they all simply emulate a qwerty keyboard and can only do functions that have a keyboard shortcut assigned. There are more things you would want to do in DR that don't have shortcuts such as move the sliders in the inspector that you cant control and I think DR know this and make it deliberately difficult for non BM hardware. However as you say it will work with any software which DR hardware does not, its hard to have just one controller for all.

I think I'll stick with my shuttle pro + streamdeck XL combo. Nice jog and scrub on the shuttle and limitless macrokeys with buttons that change their lables on the fly on the deck to cover commands that I want on buttons but don't want to clutter up the shuttle. Not cheaper but I already had both before the speed edit keyboard and this came into my attention.
@MrAlexTech4 жыл бұрын
Shuttle pro is another on my list of ones to try! I've also picked up an Editor's Keyboard to go with it as they were mentioned to me often too.
@jmalmsten4 жыл бұрын
@@MrAlexTech Well. The shuttle pro feels cheap at first glance and the software was HEAVILY cluttered with hundreds of preset configurations that I had to manually delete one by one. But like many other tools it's heavily customizeable (it's in essence just a macro keyboard), detects what apps are in focus and all that useful stuff, don't know if it does multibutton combos though. I need to look into it. But my main hobby is in 2D handdrawn animation and setting it up to accurately quickly flick back and forth between frames on the timeline in Krita is so powerful. And getting it to work in Resolve for video editing was no problems as well. So keep the expactations on the shuttle pro on a moderate level. :)

Does the Tourbox automatically switch to the appropriate preset automatically or do you have to switch it somehow yourself? I saw a review of the Tourbox some time ago and thought yeah, nah, Blackmagic is sure to release a mini version of their Editor Keyboard. As it turned out, you just had to wait a few months. I'm now waiting for mine to arrive, because, as it was with the BMPCC4K, there appears to be a huge demand. While the Tourbox clearly works, I do wonder how long components will last, as it appears cheaper than the control box that came with my dirt cheap drone. And too many controls randomly crammed into a small area.

This thing looks pretty awesome, but for $170 I would expect better build quality. That silky rubbery coating is going to rub off fairly quick, and it can flake off and get little pieces of it all over the place. (I've had a thousand devices with that coating.) The wobbly scroll wheels are unacceptable. There's no excuse for such low tolerances. I've worked in manufacturing, and I know it's purely because they were cheaping out on the tooling used to fabricate the parts. This device looks like it would accomplish it's intended task quite well, but the price would definitely need to come down a lot before I buy one.

The Tourbox looks great if you have no other alternative and you're on a pretty low budget (although their price has significantly increased over the last two years), but there's nowhere near enough there to draw me away from the Loupedeck CT (which I'm really looking forward to testing out against the Blackmagic Speed Editor). The CT has a LOT of versatility, but the Speed Editor talks directly to Resolves API, which opens up options the CT (and the Tourbox) will never be able to do with just mouse & keyboard simulations.

I thought the same then I made the leap and got it. It’s unfortunate that pictures and videos don’t do it justice. I thought it would be a plasticity gimmick I would use a few times then put in my drawer with my loupedeck but I use it everyday. It’s so well built it almost feels like metal which was surprising. It’s so handy I hate editing without it now. I have the elite model though. Worth every penny.

Count the hours to set it up and gona be far more expensive than the BMD speed editor unless you hourly rate is like a joke

Man that thing looks super jank. Causes me physical pain looking at every button being different shapes and size. If the wheel was close to the quality of the speed editor’s this would be much more appealing. Or if it was only $100 instead maybe idk
