My Tourette's, What you don't see. This is my most vulnerable video yet. The sad part is this isn't even the worst. Sometimes I go into convolutions. It looks like a seizure. My wife hasn't even seen it because it only happens when I'm alone and I don't want her to ever see it, it would break her heart. This video was hard to post, but I promised the good, bad and the ugly. Hopefully you see how bad it is for us and please support #mentalhealthawareness!
I have a number of physical problems and mental problems. I felt it was time to do a weekly vlog and show you the good, bad, and ugly of mental health. Physical health can affect your mental health as well, so they go hand in hand. My physical health isn't very good and has kept me from doing the things I love to do. That is what turns into depression. Depression triggers your anxiety and Tourette's like a vicious cycle. Think of a piston in a car. It just sparks each one and keeps going. In this vlog series, you will find out what it's like to live with Tourette's syndrome, depression, severe anxiety, and more. I'll be taking you along to doctor visits, showing what I go though, and what it does to me mentally also all the medication for treatment, including Klonopin, Cymbalta, Gabapentin, Lexapro, Hydrocodone and many more. I feel like if I can help educate and maybe even touch someone who has the same, or a few of the same, things and feel they are not alone, then I've done my job. Eventually, I want to raise money for Mental Health Awareness.

THESE ARE MY STORIES!
Tourette's Syndrome (TS) is a condition of the nervous system. TS causes people to have “tics.” Tics are sudden twitches, movements, or sounds that people do repeatedly. People who have tics cannot stop their body from doing these things. For example, a person might keep blinking over and over.
Depression (major depressive disorder) is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease your ability to function at work and at home.
Depression symptoms can vary from mild to severe and can include:
Feeling sad or having a depressed mood
Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed
Changes in appetite - weight loss or gain unrelated to dieting
Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
Loss of energy or increased fatigue
Increase in purposeless physical activity (e.g., inability to sit still, pacing, handwringing) or slowed movements or speech (these actions must be severe enough to be observable by others)
Feeling worthless or guilty
Difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions
Thoughts of death or suicide
Severe anxiety is often debilitating and significantly interrupts a person's ability to function and carry out typical day-to-day tasks. This is different from the typical anxiety most people feel when they are unsure or worried about something. Severe anxiety can even bring about suicidal thoughts
Mental health awareness is something that can help the millions of people who are impacted by mental health issues throughout the United States. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), one in five adults have had or currently have symptoms of a mental illness. These statistics show just how prevalent living with a mental illness actually is.
This is also why NAMI recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month in May. The goal with a whole month of mental health awareness is to help people with mental illnesses understand that they are not alone in their struggles-and that getting treatment can make all the difference. If we applied this approach to mental health every day of the year, more and more people could benefit from knowing about these common illnesses.
Many people who have mental health conditions aren’t sure how to cope with their symptoms and resort to unhealthy coping mechanisms to push away their emotional discomfort. As a result, you might also have an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Additionally, if you have one mental illness that goes untreated, you actually are at a greater risk for developing co-occurring disorders and you will need dual diagnosis treatment to fully heal.
