I think the tics are what we all have going through our head, we don't want to say them even though were thinking them and thats probably what happens, the tic forces its way out or something, probably linked to the desire to NOT hurt someone which is the only way to relieve the pain of thinking you might is by shouting it out involuntarily or something.

This made me want to cry. I have a mild form of TS and I hate it. I see John trying so hard to hold in the tics. Trying everything he can think of to keep them from happening and nothing seems to help. I do love that they keep such a positive attitudes while dealing with one the most misunderstood disorders. I am disappointed at the high number of comments making fun of them.

its sometimes just saying things that randomly come to mind, some tics are just purely physical ones, rather than phycological tics, but if people knew they had tourettes then they will be able to realise its nothing personal what they say

I'm 16 and I have a mild form of tourettes, I don't tick anymore but I used to since then I have been able to control them, I don't have it as bad as the people portrayed in this documentary but I do have it and just like Chopper said he hates having it and so do I as when I'm chatting to someone and I tell them that I have tourettes, I get nervous whether they'll treat me differently because of this

i have bad ocd i can almost relate to these guys i think of really inappropriate stuff sometimes i will do these things if i can get away with it..the thought goes round and round in my head and makes me very anxious untill i do it and if i cant do it because its bad i have to get away...sometime ile be speaking to someone and i get the thought spit in there face it goes round and round and round makeing me feel scaty i guess the thing with touretts is they spit in there face

Don't worry, I have tourettes myself (A not so heavy form tho with mostly motor ticks, almost no verbal ticks) and I laugh sometimes, but out of compasion and connection. I'm in no way making fun of their condition, and I know you don't either :).

Oh my god. I feel so bad for these people. My tics aren't even half as bad as any of these guys. My physical tics are irritating. I have only two vocal tics, where I will say, "Yikes", or "God", but thats it. These guys are a rippn' and a rollin with every bad word conceivable. I feel so bad; noone deserves tourette syndrome.

Itt's impossible even to hipothesise such a thing with the only base of the documentary!! And how can you think that someone could develop such a big mental condition only because he caught he's parents and friends'attention. that's right for things like wetting yourself but not for tourette's syndrom. If he's not destructed by it it's not because he likes the attention he's having. I think it's more because of the understnding . when he was diagnosed he didn't even know what tourette's was!

It's so clear that the kid (Greg) developed these 'tics' because it was positively reinforced. He clearly loves/loved the attention it gained him, from friends, family and peers. His tics are a result of positive conditioning.
