I can not get over the fact that the chihuahua has its own umbrella and rain jacket. Thanks for the video!

I found your Fat Tads fascinating. I guess I've never really looked closely at recumbents, nor have I ever ridden one. All that climbing and no motor! From what I understand with ebikes is that a mid-drive motor loses about 11% efficiency due to the length of the chain before power is applied to the rear wheel. It's more efficient to have a rear hub motor directly drive the rear wheel. Applying this thinking to a recumbent (especially with their extremely long chains) it seems they should be front-wheel drive. Does that makes sense? Yet you seemed to climb effortlessly. Now I'll have to look around to see if there are any front wheel drive recumbents. Very entertaining video!

We have a rear geared hub motor. Very efficient. 100 miles to the charge with our style of riding.

Please could you tell me what size Da Brim hat you are wearing? it looks cool.

It is the smaller one. I have one of the largest ones also, but it has too much wind drag when flying down the hills.

@@rowtator6543 Thanks so much. I think I will get the smaller version. I am staying in north Wales in the UK and we get awful gusts coming off the Atlantic, so that should be ideal.

When you get in the high country the trails are pretty much unmarked. We use downloaded GPS maps to navigate.

Hi there. I happened upon your channel and I am interested in your dog-carrier. It looks like a large pannier that you have modified, I'm guessing? My wife has a tiny dog and she wants to take it out on her trike like you are doing. If you could share your set-up and/or which panniers you are using, I would be most appreciative. Thanks. 🙂

The basket is a "Snoozer" bicycle handlebar carrier. I installed 1/4" aluminum rod around the top to keep it rigid. Then there is a 2" wide foam ledge for Tilly's front paws. She has a harness on and is restrained incase a squirrel passes by. There's a frame on the trike made from 3/8" aluminum rod. The basket hangs and rests against this. One on each side for two baskets. Many hours of riding. She totally loves it.

@@rowtator6543 thanks for the reply and the info! I love the set-up. Much better than running a trailer behind because you can keep your pup close to you during the ride (which I know my wife would definitely prefer). I can tell Tilly is loving it. Lucky little dog you have there. Cheers!

Wish I could take my dogs along but they weigh 70 and 80 pounds, think that is a tad (pun intended) to heavy. Love the dog basket, your pup is having a ball. Also where did you get the steering damper?
where did you get the dog sidecar or how did you make it

was wondering what kind of mileage do you get on the Vee Tire fatty slicks
@rowtator65432 жыл бұрын
They were installed February 2020. Knobby tires are used during winter months. The trike has nearly 6000 miles. 2/3 of them are summer or 4000 miles. The alignment has to be straight so there is no scuffing on the pavement. They are very thin and Goatheads love 'em. 4 ounces of Green Slime in each tire.

Our normal riding at home (Minnesota) is on paved bike trails. The Vee Tire Fattie Slicks are the easiest rolling tires. They are almost as thin as the inner tubes. We learned that Colorado Goathead thistles love 'em. A bottle of Green Slime solved that. In the snow I run Vee Tire Mission Command knobby tires. They are pretty quiet on pavement and 120 tpi for easy rolling. Those will be installed before next summers off-road outing.

By *_Touring_* you mean lugging the trikes somewhere and then riding for an hour or two and then lugging them back home... right? That's not *touring,* that's doing short day rides out of your car, still fun... but that's not touring.
