Hello again, what a beautiful coastal road clinging to the edge of the cliffs, with the diverse colour and shape of the rocks, can’t believe the lack of traffic. At 72 years young I can watch and live the adventures with you, even if I cannot ride them myself. I rode various motorcycles for years until about 15 years ago but never went on adventures like yourselves, I really missed out. The video blogs inspire others to do these sort of adventures and go beyond their normal rides. Enjoy the journey, ride safe and keep the great videos coming,

September best month to visit, spent many happy holidays on Corsica, met Gerard Depardieu! The locals are kamikaze like drivers going around the corners at great speed and overtaking, roads are twisty and full of blind corners,m they have no fear.

Another great series of videos, we really enjoy watching them as you are both so positive about touring. Quick question do you use both the BMW Navigator and the phone with Calimoto. I have the old BMW navigator 6 and looks like I can export GPX files to it. Just wondered if you only use the phone now. Thanks.
@SeanandEmily9 ай бұрын
Hi, this was a quick test to see if the GPX files we exported from calimoto would be followed exactly by the Connected Ride Navigator, so far it's worked perfectly. I don't need to have both on all the time so will probably just continue to use the Navigator with the GPX files on it. The phone is still handy for any off route navigation, like finding a supermarket etc

Hi guys! I enjoy your YT videos. I have one question. Safety of the bike while staying somewhere over nights or when you go walking and look around. How do you manage it?
@SeanandEmily9 ай бұрын
Hi, yeah security is always an issue. For Corsica we weren't too worried but usually we choose hotels that have on site parking or underground parking is even better. We usually carry the big Oxford chain and chain the bike to something solid. We carry a smaller chain to secure the helmets if we leave the bike in the day time and sometimes we carry the pacsafe cage to but the boots and gear in. Although we generally try to stay the night in any city or town that we want to see so the bike and gear isn't left unattended too long. If stopping off at a place for a short time we try to park in places that don't have access to vehicles (to prevent a van pulling up next to the bike and lifting it) The lockable panniers also help keep things more secure, but at the end of the day you can only do so much. I think there is some examples of this in the Heading South Tour playlist. Thanks for watching

I see you've upgraded to the new BMW Connected Ride Navigator. How does it compare to the Garmin in your experience? I've done the same and been mixed. It's well made, operates smoother, but boy do I miss a lot of features (e.g. showing cafes/petrol stations on the map).
@SeanandEmily9 ай бұрын
Only just started using it myself, for this tour we made the route on calimoto and uploaded the GPX files to the Navigator. So far like you say it's been working well. Can you not turn the points of interest on in the settings? ..i will have to have a look 👍
@FxRiderST9 ай бұрын
Very nice! Why are you running two GPS's?
@SeanandEmily9 ай бұрын
As the Navi and the calimoto app are both new to us we wanted to check if the GPS followed the GPX route that the calimoto app made. So far it's been working perfectly.

@@SeanandEmily Got it. What's going to be your preference? From my experience, the phone can't replace the satnav for various reasons, although I know people who use phones to navigate.

@SeanandEmily5 ай бұрын
Well that's completely your own loss, so do as you wish 😉. Perhaps also take the time to learn a bit about the history before throwing a tizzy and realise these are conversations between us -we are also here to learn about the place we are visiting. Here is an excerpt about how Corsica has changed hands many times. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: The history of Corsica goes back to antiquity, and was known to Herodotus, who described Phoenician habitation in the 6th century BCE. Etruscans and Carthaginians expelled the Phoenicians, and remained until the Romans arrived during the Punic Wars in 237 BCE. Vandals occupied it in 430 CE, followed by the Byzantine Empire a century later. Raided by various Germanic and other groups for two centuries, it was conquered in 774 by Charlemagne under the Holy Roman Empire, which fought for control against the Saracens. After a period of feudal anarchy, the island was transferred to the papacy, then to city states Pisa and Genoa, which retained control over it for five centuries, until the establishment of the Corsican Republic in 1755. The French gained control in the 1768 Treaty of Versailles. Corsica was briefly independent as a Kingdom in union with Great Britain after the French Revolution in 1789, with a viceroy and elected Parliament, but returned to French rule in 1796. Corsica strongly supported the allies in World War I, caring for wounded, and housing POWs. The poilus fought loyally and suffered great casualties. A recession after the war prompted a mass exodus to southern France. Wealthy Corsicans became colonizers in Algeria and Indochina. After the Fall of France in 1940, Corsica was part of the southern zone libre of the Vichy regime. Fascist leader Benito Mussolini agitated for Italian control, supported by Corsican irredentists. In 1942, Italy occupied Corsica with a huge force. German forces took over in 1943 after the Allied armistice with Italy. The Germans faced opposition from the French Resistance, retreating and evacuating the island by October 1943. Corsica then became an Allied air base, supporting the Mediterranean Theater in 1944, and the invasion of southern France in August 1944. Since the war, Corsica has developed a thriving tourism industry, and has been known for its independence movements, sometimes violent.
