Sketchbook tours are more popular than people might think. Artists enjoy seeing someone's thought process, practice stuff, doodles, and even failed attemps at a drawing. It reminds people that the artist isn't perfect. People forget that even the best artists still carry around a sketchbook full of practice, studies, and art they consider bad, mixed in with good art too, obviously.

I've watched this video several times now and I admit your depiction of feeling alone makes my jaw drop every time and is probability one of the reasons I keep coming back to this video, as a whole piece it's gorgeous, but in this comment I want to bring up the zip part of it with people making up the teeth of the zip. I actually think you created a visual metaphor of what you do in your videos. I see you as the beautiful long haired zip, who unites a lot of individuals with one move, the zip being your posting a video uniting us your followers. I love sketchbook tours because they show an artists improvement and growth over time and it makes me feel motivated to keep up my practice so that I can eventually get better and my lines end up turning into something real or anime-like rather then being the odd little things that they are xD

It's bizarre to me, the idea that sketchbooks are like diaries. I mean I understand why and even sympathize somewhat but both of my sisters are artists and I don't think they've ever been shy about showing their sketchbooks off. I have clear memories of going through them when I was younger. And I've just recently (a little over a week now actually :P) gotten into drawing, I can't help but show my sketchbook off. It's probably mostly because I've been so excited about the progress I'm making, but still. I just think old sketchbooks are so cool. It's like you're flipping through someone's art history. If i can help it I'm going to keep every single sketchbook I finish from this point on, so that if I stick with this and eventually get good enough to really call myself an artist I can flip back through my sketchbooks and see how I got to where I am now.
