My beloved father was a wellknown successful entrepreneur in Gemologies located in Pailin Province since 1975 Cambodia turn into the darkness time bloodshed country that wipes off Millions Khmers pop. My father escaped Khmer Rouge at the very last with empty hands he’s business partner fled Cambodia before 1975 they are well and continues successfully inherit their wealth to another part of the countries . Only nostalgics whenever I watch this treasure footage. Khmers people are very noble and civilized people beautiful Contry beautiful people unfortunately nothing last forever . 😔🙏🇰🇭❤️🌎😓

My grandfather was the one who is really popular in norea battambang. His name called te khaw med. I wish that i would meet people from the area that still alive and know about the story of his family. In the 1970s it was Sihanouk who tricked the Cambodians to support the Khmer Rouge so that he could regain this throne from Marshal Lon Nol. It was Sihanouk who gave rise to the Khmer Rouge. Shame that Cambodians no longer remember the true history.

That is true, however China was primarily responsible for the rise of the Khmer Rouge. China funded them, over one billion dollars in weapons. The USA bombing of Cambodia was also a type of fertiliser for the Khmer Rouge in rural areas.

Before China supported the KR, North Vietnam and Vietcong helped the formation of the KR in the 60s and even fought alongside the KR against the Khmer Republic army. And the KR started with tribesmen who were revolting against Sihanouk’s government. That’s why the KR’s base was in the northeast before they rose to power and why there was animosity towards the Vietnamese by the Cambodian populace. Sihanouk was fighting against KR until he was overthrown and China was the only country that was willing to help. He listened to China about supporting the KR, knowing this would encourage Cambodians to join and expand the KR which they did but with different intentions than those who earlier joined. Those who joined at Sihanouk’s calling did so because they wanted to support the king and fight against corruption. That’s why the KR was faction due to people with different ideologies and they started to turn on each other. And that’s why you hear different stories during the KR regime. Depending on the commune chief you had, life wasn’t as bad compared to other communes where the KR was out for blood.
