The 'Mandore gardens', with its charming collection of temples and memorials, and its high rock terraces, is another major attraction. The gardens house the Chhatris (cenotaphs) of many rulers of Jodhpur state. Prominent among them is the chhatri of Maharaja Ajit Singh, built in 1793.
Mandore was capital of Jodhpur during royal kings time before Mehrangarh fort was built. It has beautiful temples and the ruins are surrounded by garden, which makes it a good spot for picnic.
Located in the outskirts of the city, Mandore Garden is eye candy. It lures you with greenery, lovely architecture and a light & sound show.Mandore garden is about 7-8 kms away from the centre of the city. In case you are going by auto they usually charge Rs200 but charged me Rs. 280.
Mandor garden is big garden with historical museum, temples, fountains, food court and monkeys. It has everything for everyone. The maintenance is bit low but still it is attractive place to visit. The fountains are beautifully lit in evening.
At 7:30 PM there is a light and sound show about history of Mandore and Jodhpur. Plan your visit so you are there during the show. Take your seats well before time. The museum closes at 5.
Mandore garden is worth visiting for its beautiful temples and the ruins are surrounded by garden, which makes it a good spot for picnic. You can spot langoors here and also folk musicians playing and teaching traditional Rajasthani melodies. The garden is a little far from the centre and maybe this is the reason it is not very crowded. As it is not crowded with tourists, it is a must visit place to appreciate the beauty of the garden.
