Gangwon-do is the most popular domestic tourist destination for all seasons. You can go skiing and snowboarding in winter, swimming or canoeing in summer and hiking all year around. Seoulites usually go to Gangwon-do for 'camping' for a weekend. I say 'camping' because people prefer to stay in well kept campsite or an accomodation, like where you stayed, rather than sleeping in a sleeping bag or a tent far from the civilization. And that game you were wondering about is non-ice version of Curling.
@creamchoco Жыл бұрын
You found a good place. I'm surprised that people thought Gangwondo would be boring. Gangwondo is one of the popular destinations for the Koreans. Inje County is a popular destination for the Koreans who like to race their cars. There's a racing track there called the Inje Speedium. Maybe the people who aren't from Korea answered you. Or maybe a lot of the Koreans answered in Korean in the comments section. There are plenty of mountains and beaches in Gangwondo. Seorak Mountain, Taebaek, and Naksan Beach are just a few of the examples.

The bags at 20:03..... tough town issues due to population decrease, and korea normally charges for plastic bags like 50 won, this was back in 2000's, last time i was there i started using bills to pay for a packet of trash bags for trash collection as a method of paying for trash collection fees. Most residential trashbags have a uniform stamp and colored bag for differenty types of trash to be collected. The food waste bags are the worst. As a real Korean American, I can see the lost in translation part so well, both parties did extremely well, im glad the staff tried, those bags are like commodoties to them in those parts of korea. Its good to see Valentin step in, there are places where they see someone so clearly foreign that they will take advantage of them, which is probably why they are walking, doesnt want to deal with scarcity of taxi and sheisty cab drivers. I just hope they didnt have to give up recycle collection bags for customer purchase bags. those recycle bags cost alot to the store.

I'm surprised the Koreans told you that there is nothing to do in Gangwon Do. Are you sure they were Koreans and not Korean Americans? SeoRak mountain is one of the most popular places Koreans visit and there are many beaches in Gangwon Do. When asking around for suggestions, make sure you are asking a Korean and not Korean American. I lived in Korea for 2 years and I learned quickly that many Korean Americans don't know much about Korea yet foreigners like me assume they do because of their ethnicity.

You can drink tap water in Korea - it is perfectly fine! I've lived in Korea for 6 years and drank tap water all the time! You have to understand Koreans don't drink tap water anywhere in the world! They hate the taste of tap water, especially the taste of the chlorine in the tap water. All the Koreans I know in Australia filter the water by boiling or using filters. Try Korean fresh mountain water - it is amazing!
@20CamelsEmily Жыл бұрын
Thanks for letting us know! We were told not to drink the tap water by the Koreans we met, but I bet some fresh Korean mountain water would be delicious ~
@charlottenixon1471 Жыл бұрын
@@20CamelsEmily Yeah, all the Koreans will tell you not to drink out of tap water and will look at you in horror if they see you drinking straight out of the tap water! But I can guarantee you it is absolutely fine. Korean tap water is one of the cleanest in the world now, but Koreans still refuse to drink tap water. It's kind of similar in Japan - most Japanese people will boil tap water before drinking it and their tap water is also very good!

I was also pleasantly surprised about how well organized and large the Hanaro mart was!
