I don't understand why Thai people are not angrier with their government for not stopping the burning of agricultural fields. I am happy to have left Bangkok yesterday. It was fairly horrible and shocking to be honest.

And I don't mention the extreme heat that will hit Bkk in the summer 🌞🌞🌞. It killed over 30+ people last year in Thailand. Pollution+heat 😢😅

Isn't it Thai people that are burning their own fields ?

I am leaving in 2 days and can't wait. And I will never come back between January and April. My fault, did not know about it. Always thought it is only in the North.

The video ends in: "The questions remains, what can be done to reduce PM 2.5 particles..." The answers have been there for decades! Fight the cause - such as industry, exhaust of old diesel buses and trucks, burning agricultural waste. There are plenty of large cities in Europe, U.S., etc that have brought down air pollution by a lot, but it needs commitment and willingness by the government to make a change.

There is no environmental awareness at all in Thailand, Trash everywhere. The Air Pollution Saga is going on since decades, but not one of the Governments has taken care for. In 2023 at least 20.000 people died from Air Pollution and 10.000.000 people needed treatment in Hospitals, but still no action taken.

I took the flight to Manila in the afternoon. It was December 10th. I could see plain as day half a dozen or so field fires where just smoking out Bangkok.

I live here… I was wearing a mask for hours and suddenly on my way home I threw up 🤮 and flu symptoms just in the drive home. My body was fighting the pollution after being in and outside for several hours. It’s definitely a huge problem and the regular masks don’t work more than some hours. Even if you don’t have symptoms it’s still impacts your lungs 🫁

the problem is the particles are so small they can enter your blood and cause heart attack, stroke and cancer over time. it is not a joke. just because you dont feel anything like some (stupid) tourists said in the video does not mean you have not been damaged. so it is very correct what you are saying.

These tourists who aren’t wearing masks OBVIOUSLY aren’t educated about the dangers of breathing it in. They should be wearing a mask regardless of feeling symptoms or not! 😢😢😢

I just left BKK and arrived in Tokyo 2 days ago. The pollution in BKK the prior week was absolutely horrible. Sore throat...aggitated eyes. Very happy to be in Tokyo at this time. Not sure if I will return to Thailand without firm goverment action resulting in substancial lowering of PM2.5 numbers.

Yesterday, I was watching a video put out by a Thailand youtuber (Thailand Bound). The fellow was saying "Oh, It's just bad for a couple of weeks, then its all over and everthing is fine". To that, I say No Sir, its more like 3 months. Sure IQAir redings may drop from 180 down to 100 or so, but the pm2.5 remains 5 to 10x what is considered healthy for several months. Unfortunately, this period seems to coincide with the peak tourist (dry) season.

I lived in Singapore for 8 years. When Indonesia does farming land burn offs it is really bad also. This is dependent on wind conditions also.

probably it is not dangerous for a few days, that is why tourists dont feel any different. Also on the day when the interviews took place, you can see blue sky in the background, so it was not much pollution on this day.
