as a dutch guy its so funny that its true too, you see tourists going in and out of the coffeeshops (stores where they sell weed and spacecake) more than actual citizens, and when it comes to buying something and they clearly want a lot, they usually do just buy a pack of hubba bubba gum or a stroopwafel and nothing else because they feel intimidated being a tourist in the middle of dozens of actual citizens

I used to work in an amsterdam hostel, this guy came in one sunday afternoon and said that he'd, can't remebmer if it was spacecake or he'd tried a joint, anyway, first time ever and he wasn't having a good time, I might have given him a fanta, it turned out he was a teacher, from england, I told him about my friend who did teacher training and said that at least half were doing it because they couldn't think of anything else to do after graduation, he agreed that teaching was in fact a vast dumping ground, my friend rick was visiting from manchester and told him he'd get used to it "I don't want to get used to it" he said, there was a man wearing a suit who came in one day as well, he was french and had taken three tabs of acid, he was also not quite sure what to do with himself at this point, I sent him to the coffeeshop downstairs to grab a fresh orange juice
