I built both models from 1969-1972. Great job. Great machine to build at the time. I was 20 years old and hired by the plant superintendent and everyone knew it. I was one of only a couple of "longhairs". I knew my job and the management knew it. Wow, the memories!!!

Just got a parts catalogue for one of these, Best Buy ever, so much cool info, wish I could’ve been around to see these and other Letro machines in their heyday.

That's a LeTourneau T-600A wheel dozer, setup with a push block, and the scapers are GM Euclid machines, most likely S-18's or S-24's, based on the lack of a rear power plant.

Accordingly it is a LeTourneau K600A. A fellow from a popular heavy equipment forum found out for us,thank you Josh.

This is not a loader but only a wheeled dozer. The push block has shocks and was very easy on the scrapers. If the operator of the pan was messing up the push cat operator could wake him up though. The single engine scrapers could not load themselves more then half full. There was not a lot of traction in the sugar sand of Florida.

Somewhat similar to my Michigan wheel dozer, though much larger. There is a video of my machine on here titled "cleaning up a skid road with my Michigan wheel dozer".

If this video had sound it would be overflowing with screaming Jimmy goodness. That wheel pusher looks like just the ticket. I find it odd that the scrapers aren't even getting a start on their run without it. Must be some hard scraping at that site.

This looks like Cape Coral and a couple of the pan numbers look like the ones that I ran back then. This was before we were required to have role over protection. I got to run this machine on occasion

LeTourneau Pusher and Terex/Euclid scraper?
@tdshaker10 жыл бұрын
The scraper method to me, seems like the best way to move dirt faster over long hauls. But todays methods use excavators and loaders to load off road rear dumps, then haul to Dozers that level the fill.. I don't know. It does not make sense to me. Maybe I'm too old. Do they want to make jobs last longer today? OSHA, EPA, and other concerns streach jobs out from Mos. to years today. I know that, but really! It took 5 years to build I95 in CT in 1956. Now it takes 10 years to rebuild just one bridge of I95! Whats going on?
@MotoScootMech7 жыл бұрын
More of a maintenance cost than anything. Especially hard to do with wet or unstable ground. ADTs and Excavators have a much lower operating cost than dozers and scrapers do. Plus with modern hydraulic systems the excavator pumps reach above 5000 PSI making loading the dirt a pretty quick operation.
@Bowiiihowdy7 жыл бұрын
depends on the length of haul. To far and they burn more fuel then dirt hauled. Trucks are designed for the long haul. Scrapers and push cats make a killing in the shorter hauls

Scrapers will always be the most machine and labor method to move dirt. The big fleets in California only run scrapers

Why don’t these belly scrapers push and pull each other with train knuckles? 4 in a row could fill each one at a time with 4 engines and 16 wheels...the empty back ones could push the first ones and then the full front ones could pull the empty back ones...
@johnsomerset151011 жыл бұрын
You've got nothing correct, Bazst..... ! Wrong machine (-do research) and scraper had to wait for his turn at the start of his cut! and no heavy bump (watch video closely).
@bazstan00712 жыл бұрын
this machine is an early model International Hough 500, the first model came with a v12 Cummins, the later models had a V16 GM, it was a machine before it's time, i would sure hate to be push loaded with this machine, the bump when the pushpad hit the scraper would have horrendous, the scraper operator should have kept his machine moving and been picked up on the run, the later models came with Cummins,
