I love heavy machinery! When I was little dad used to bring me to a railroad crossing and I watched passing freight trains for hours and never got tired. I also loved watching tractors and heavy trucks leaving tacks in mud. I still do!

My father was a sewer/waterline contractor. We moved to a 100 acre "weekend farm" in '82 when I was 12. I grew up around Cat, Komatsu & Case excavators, dozers, backhoes & payloaders. Life was like living in a giant Tonka Toy world. Back then there was nothing better than being awakened at 5:30 in the morning by the distant sound of Gus unloading a Cat 225/235 off the lowboy down on Masters road. On those days I'd get home from school, throw my books where ever, put on my "dirty clothes" and go find whoever was doing whatever work on the property. All the operators knew when they saw me standing a safe distance away, staring in their direction, that they needed to throttle down and let me climb up on the tracks and get myself situated standing next to them in the doorway before they could get back to work. I loved that better than any amusement park ride that existed.

I'm glade for you, I pray all goes well, I'm a retired HDR/W. 75, I serviced the first Cat Demo D10 that came to Southern CA, Later it was actioned off, McCoys, bought it, I moved over to that company for years, and again I was watch dog over that cat and the like, and one day I asked what came of it, The super told me it was cut up for scrap. I was shocked. After that the early first production of the D11..with rippers, ... came out of a coal mine. used it up above Canyon Lake. lots of blue granite up there, Denny McCoy got ticked off watching an operator battle the rock with a D9L, kicks the operator off, jumps in the seat and commences tear up the rock, but all he accomplished was to actually tear off the ripper assembly. and that is how we came by the D-11. I assembled it, only to discover the engine had a rod of two rapped around the crank. got it fix, That was something 40 years ago. It was all new to us back then, we had to learn as we went. Today I know nothing. They call the Yellow Iron we used back in the day,to put the beans on our table antics. The Lord Be With You.

I'm a new subscriber & enjoyed this video. How little it takes to disassemble something like this is surprising. It seems the rub is that everything is so heavy. I can't figure how you install that heavy subframe onto that big pivot point without hammering up the fragile seal on the inside of the frame. Time to watch some of your previous videos. Great channel - keep the episodes coming!!

I missed how the master pin was installed........Also missed how the tisioned was adjusted. The work is in the details.. Good video in general...
@matthewgarling39413 күн бұрын
Hi Guys. The reason you had trouble lining up the EQ bar pin and you had to pull the track frame outwards is the frame you removed was a toe-out and the frame you installed is straight which requires a shorter EQ bar
@quintonbartolotta3 күн бұрын
Both eq bars were the same part number, unless the track frame on the previous tractor had the wrong eq bar installed. There is a 1/2 inch difference in length between the Toe and Straight bar.

Can’t thank you enough for taking the time to record how you changed out these tracks. For years I have wondered how it’s done. That is big very heavy equipment your working with, one can get hurt in a heart beat. I’ve noticed the care you take for safety👍, thank you. Not counting cost for changing out that whole track assembly that you took off of another machine and put on this one, what did the tracks cost and what did the labor cost come to? Great video, well edited, very informative and educational video. We’re watching from Missouri.
