This is a high dollar outfit, using Sea Tow. I always just tow myself on the hip with my dingy. It is slow, but sure, and free.

Did you guys have the boat surveyed before you bought it? At a minimum it would tell you if there are any structural defects that would make the boat beyond repair, and at best would provide a "to do" list to help make it seaworthy.

Dan Courtney We didn't have it surveyed, but even if we got it surveyed and got bad news we would have still bought it. We were pretty determined to fix her up! We plan on getting it surveyed in the near future though, just to be safe.

SailBros Cool... good idea. Love what you guys are doing. I plan to do something similar next year on a larger boat that I'll circumnavigate with. Nothing like slicing through the water on a boat you've brought back to life.

Dan Courtney Couldn't agree more! It will make sailing and travel that much more meaningful. Good luck with your project, you should definitely document as well.

I'm sure yards vary greatly, but does anybody want to guess the average monthly cost of putting up a boat this size?

I hope you didn't pay a lot for that muffler.

I redid the same boat a couple years ago. i only blogged about it half way through. Look at this blog link and start in March 2011. You will see a lot of very familiar items. northern-aquarius.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
