It’s lovely to see these old wrecks ( just like mine) being faithfully restored back to a functioning boat that will give far more pleasure than if you had bought a new one. Good on you

The style of Cheoy Lee sailboats is awesome, and from what I've read and heard, they're built strong as well.

Big job, good luck. So many head sails left on the furler have flogged themselves to death because the furling line wasn't properly secured..... hey, you probably needed a new jib anyway ;)

I see a lot of boats for sale on Craig's List where the owner claims "the hard work is already done, she is all gutted, now you can rebuild her the way you want". I smile but do not call. I rebuilt an interior once, and it was a very satisfying experience, so satisfying that once was enough for a lifetime.
@hadenough7901
@hadenough7901 8 жыл бұрын
My friend, I know of which you speak. I've had more than a few boaters to strip their bots bare. THEN ask what a new interior costs and often it is... more than they paid for the boat. Of course they never save any of the removed interior for patterns. Which saves enormous time. More good boats are killed that way than any other.

1:21 If I should begin a restoration af that interior, it looks like I would need - for a start - a big rigid bucket, a shovel, and a crowbar - and have a seriously *big* construction waste container available.

@@SailBros so did you keep it in the boat yard for like a year or more? How much does a boat yard charge per month for dry dock space to work on a boat? Nothing exact just a ball park figure.
@SailBros
@SailBros 3 жыл бұрын
We were only in the boat yard for a couple of months. The yards around here are crazy expensive. $30 a day. I’m sure they are cheaper in other areas like Florida or along the east coast.

Gene Roll no the boat was never sunk but did sit for years with a foot of water above the floor boards. I have meny stories about this boat. lived on it for 5years. sailed it all up and down the coast. great to weather and a beam but slow and rollie down wind.
