I don’t get why Rough Country makes a kit for the 90s Chevys, and the 07’ and up Chevys. I feel like they’re missing out on a huge portion of sales because I see way more GMT800s on the road in my neck of the woods than anything else.

I know! It seems silly since they are such a similar setup!

I just messaged their team and they have no ETA and no answer if it’s even a thought. “I’m not part of the engineer and design team.”

You're welcome & good luck!

Im sure you are going to be fine but with the addition of a shim you changed the sheer of the bolt installed allowing room for the bolt to bend. That being said the factory tow hooks on these GMT800's are weak so im sure its not to the point where what you installed is weaker just pointing it out. I like the idea just not a fan of the execution.

Thanks for the input If you look at the design of the factory GMT900 hook, compared to the Rough Country, they are already different, as far as how the bolt is supported. If Rough Country is satisfied with their design vs factory, I'm perfectly fine with my execution of their product.

Do you know if i could do this on my 02 Suburban? I know the bumpers shape is a little different, and i removed the plastic valence a while ago. Thinking about purchasing but dont wanna be let down, just want a second opinion before i buy.
@OverlandAdventureTimes Жыл бұрын
As far as I know, the components should fit the same, it's just a matter of what you might have to trim.
@aidantanny7230 Жыл бұрын
@OverlandAdventureTimes only problem is that mine is steel not plastic, so trimming is gonna be a lot harder. Just hope it works out

Boss, how about a test recovery using those shackles? Safe to recover from?

As long as there's a camera in the rig, the first chance we get to use 'em, I'll post it up! Considering you end up with an identical setup to a GMT900, I'm not worried.

This shit was jerry rigged as hell, why did u not just angle them more downwards, put the bolt holes higher and then avoid cutting the bumper
@OverlandAdventureTimes Жыл бұрын
Because that's not how it works, there isnt really room in the frame rail to "angle them down" and still use the main factory mounting location. The secondary bolt is identical to how the factory gmt900 is mounted. I didn't mind trimming for access. If you can't see, the bumper is already heavily trimmed. Explain what you feel is jerry rigged, other than you don't like cutting the bumper? The best thing is, you can just leave yours stock, or buy a $2K winch bumper if you want a different look. The choice is yours.
