It can be hard. My first job was at a resort. Had a blast for 2 years with my coworkers until my favorite coworker decided to leave because he started to argue with management a lot over silly things (IMHO). But life went on. And then after a couple of months, another left, then another, until I found myself being the only one left of that group and decided that I didn´t enjoy the work with the people I was around with. Today (15 years later) I work as a manager in a recycling plant. Good pay, not too much stress, I deal with coworkers now in a strictly professional maner. But man, I still miss that first 2 years in that job. I can only imagine what Hololive will look like in the next 5 years when more high profile names start leaving and the ones left feel weirded out by it.

I think Aqua's graduation is a tough one to cope with since there's not really any blame to go around. Cover didn't do anything wrong, Aqua didn't do anything wrong, the fans didn't do anything wrong, etc. It really just is what it is, Aqua made the decision and that's it. Just gotta support her while she's here, remember all the good memories, and send her off with a smile. and whenever we miss her, her channel and all her VODs are still going to be there to watch.

I'm sad to see her go and sad she won't be interacting with the other holomems the same but she's going out on one of best possible ways and so for that we should all be happy. I think Hololive has finally shed the small startup company status and has matured into a large scale operation. This year really shows it with how large the fes was, or the Lakers collab, etc. They're a massive system now. And I think it no longer looks the same as the small Hololive that most of the talents signed up for. I'm not saying it's 'gone bad' either, I just think its different in a way that some of them may not like. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more graduations this year and over the next year or so, as people decide whether they wanna go back to the basics of streaming like indies, or to continue working in this growing network of rules, business, and large scale entertainment.

Aqua's Graduation is echoing Coco's Graduation in many ways. She's clearly well loved but she also has things she wants to do that Hololive can't help with. I don't know what it is yet. Maybe more stream and chill? Maybe getting into the competitive scene in gaming? Who knows. I think it says something when everyone from across all branches of Hololive expresses their feelings when one person decides to leave. And the message is consistent: "She has things she wants to do and we can only support her decision from behind. Anything else would be selfishness." I think Aqua has some sort of ambition. She's had a fulfilling run as an idol and so she's looking to her next steps. What is she looking to do next? Maybe we'll find out. --- I had mentioned above about competitive gaming. The more I think about it the more it's stuck in my brain. What if Aqua wants to do true Competitive Apex and joins a Competitive Team? I keep thinking about it because Botan also mentioned "Aqua's Next Life". I'm curious if they talked about the Competitive FPS scene (relatively sure Botan is a retired semi-pro). Competitive Gaming is pretty intense. It takes hours and hours of scrims to hone your competitive edge. Stuff like StartEnd for VSaikyo is a once-in-a-lifetime event. They had to adjust their schedules to an extreme degree and put off a lot of things in order to make the scrim time. It's not something they could do again, especially since the points system in VSaikyo would prevent the team from forming anyway (Suisei's points probably shot up by a lot after that particular tournament). Aqua's always been a hardcore gamer. The one thing that's always held her back from joining a team was her social anxiety. Aqua is literally real life Bocchi. However, her six years in Hololive seems to have done her a lot of good in that department. It is clear that she can make friends and that people love her. The amount of scrimming and practice required of a competitive gamer would not match up with a Hololive schedule. That's just facts. Practice hones the competitive edge. Hard to spend 8-12 hour days practicing if you have dance practice and voice lessons on your schedule. She's proven she can be a good streamer. She's proven that she can be an idol. She's proven that she's a hella good gamer. But there if there is one thing that seems to elude her, it's being a gaming champion (in a wider sense and not just among VTubers). StartEnd has shown that "Mad Dog" Aqua is very skilled but it was clear during the tournament itself that they lack tournament experience, so their performance suffered. Towa was experienced but it was her first time being shot-caller and team leader, so that was pressure on her. Maybe Aqua wants to do that again but reach for even greater heights. I dunno. I'm unnecessarily speculating again. Maybe she just wants to stream and chill. Who knows.

I mean, as suisei stated, holo become really really big that some strict rules will be implemented and also they have to go on tour since their goals is currently global expansion. Now you know aqua, she's extremely introverted girl, but if holo asked her to go overseas for an event, will aqua do it? That's just 1 speculation about disagreement in goals between holo & aqua, the other one can be as you stated, she wants to just stream and chill or going to a tournament, but with holo being strict about some stuffs, she can't have that. This was my thought as well but there’s one conflict to this theory and that is Laplus. Laplus was able to do this gaming centric thing where she just streams valorant virtually every day over on twitch. I’m sure management would choose to rather give Aqua what she wants (if what she wanted is competitive gaming/streaming focused) instead of fully graduating. This “creative differences” doesn’t really make sense to me. It was for Coco, but not for Aqua.

Man, this makes me really sad. I was only getting into Aqua recently too, and you can tell Towa really gets along well with her. Poor Towa, it's the second time a good friend of hers leaves. The day that Towa herself graduates will be the most painful day in all of my life as a Holo Fan; and I was here when Coco was still around. If I remember correctly, 90% of Mio's streams were removed and it was similar for other members too. They don't want a repeat of that and risk getting sued.

I had also shared the same thoughts as Towa did about it not being something you decide overnight and just quit like burger-flippin'. Like in any career prospect, goals and aspirations are planned months, sometimes years ahead. But when you realise that your path with the company is no longer aligned, you begin to ponder about moving on, and those decisions are not made overnight haphazardly. Like in an office, you tie up loose ends, you slowly clear your desk, you count the days. And when the time comes, you or management announce it to the work group, closer to your tendering date. It's impossible to tell what the future will bring and even more impossible to imagine the "what if I stayed what would I be" but those 2 things can really bother you when you leave a place where for all accounts it's pretty nice being. As sad as this is, I do wonder if this graduation will encourage more holomems to collab and reach out to one another more. Pekora has mentioned she wished she reached out earlier to Aqua and Towa here has also mentioned getting to know Aqua was a really enjoyable time. With Aqua having a proper graduation after being in Hololive for such a long time, I think everyone now realise that everyone will move on one day, and to best make use of the time you have together. There is nothing that can be done when the company is going in a direction that you don't agree with. Just like when Coco and Sana voluntarily left, there was nothing any of their friends could have done to stop them. They simply wanted something that Cover could not provide. Hololive has a lot of people who have been there for a while. Gen 4 is coming up on their 5th anniversary in a few months, and of course everyone before gen 4 has been there for over 5 years. The next hololive graduation could happen at any time. Enjoy your favorites now while you can.

Sana did left voluntarily but the core reason is significantly different it was due to a very unfortunate injury she suffered. Due to it she petty much got hospitalized for awhile and has had to limit to a significant degree her activities. Heck I'm sure her last streams put a strain on her body yet she did it not for the company but for the fans that gathered around her short time in hololive. If what I heard is right she now should just be able to return to her old that will not strain her back in anyway but I'm sure she still slightly struggle with the injury to her back.

I would said that she's already achieve much achievement that not even any other members had. - She become an holomem for 6 six years and one of the vtuber that have the least drama - She sang an anime ed theme song - she had two sololive concert and two solo concert outfit - back then have Collaborated with azur lane and cury meshi - have becomes an cameo in her favourite series (SAO) - meet her favourite seiyuu in her person (itou Miku) - have many originals song and album - become readbull brand ambassadors Honestly in my opinion she already did more than what other hololive member do. I'm just really grateful that I can meet her in back then in 2021. Now she is graduating and I'm grateful for all of that.

@@Broke-kun I know that. It happens with everything. You are the insurgency but then become the state, you are the anti-idol but become the template idol. Winning has that downside. But I still think you can accommodate or bend when need be, being flexible is also a hallmark of good management. One size does not fit all. For a coco, sure, she was a rebel and wasn't going to fit in the new hololive. but aqua was the model hololive girl, and if she is breaking under the new restrictions, that's a warning sign. and what she wanted I have a very hard time believing it was anything that would have hurt the brand and share price, and her leaving is much more damaging to that anyway given her popularity/marketability. I'm still a hololive fan and will probably be until it runs it's course. But this is something that should give some pause and questioning about how things are going behind the scenes and if it's right. How strict is too strict if it's come to this.

I've had this speculation. That aqua wanted to quit long before. that startend minecraft 1 block challenge they did was one of those moments where they got her to extend for another year. after that her vibe got so much better. this is just my theory not based on nothing but vibes I got from the streams. I'm looking forward to the future curiously. Minato Aqua will forever be my kami oshi.

I'm guessing now, after looking back, that her first time doing StartEnd was already hinting that she might have wanted to graduate even back then, possibly she had the idea to graduate after the first StartEnd tourney run they did, but the connections she made with her holofriends made her stay for much longer than she had initially intended, but now she has done what she wanted to do in Hololive and she would rather move on and do something that she feels happier doing over all from what it seems.

kson became boring after she became indie. She thought that the success of asacoco was only hers alone cuz she wakes up early to prepare it but ignored that it was the collaboration between holomems that made asacoco a success. I still remember Towa crying and saying don't quit to coco and that time I was under the impression that coco will be doing different things I thought she's going abroad or something and it shocked me when I found out the reason why abandoned everything was just to become indie vtuber and then went on to join a corpo and then she lost the ability to collab with her fellow holomems. and now aqua is doing the same such a shame. this is why I watch less and less vtubers nowadays

I started to watch hololive vtubers around 2020, and honestly I don't know what happens in they private life but for me I have that feeling that they have everything like for being a vtuber, things I mean like, things like indepedent vtubers are really struggling to reach, Aqua for me was a legend of a idol vtuber, now I'm struggling to understand why she is quitting, hololive is really that bad?

Well, hololive started as a small company back then. At that times, some members just join for fun and they don't know what to do (Gen 1 - Gen 2) and some of them join with Passion (like fubuki to grow hololive into bigger). It started grow bigger when Holo Gamers and Holo Gen 3 joined this company which what we call golden generation at this time. As the times pass, that small company become no 1 Vtuber company in the world and what do you think would happen? Of course added more strict rules to protect this company and talents. Back then they didn't really have much rules, you only have to stream the games you want without care about anything but nowadays were different from that times, one time they all got copyright strike that they have to private lots of their stream. In the end, they need to add rules to talent to confirm if the game Is safe to be streamed to prevent that copyright strike again. And of course with some stream they need to check the safety because it happens a troublesome case as the Taiwan incident which make hololive more strict about streams that they can do. So they can protect them in the future. Besides all of that they nowadays have to do more offline works rather than steaming because they grow bigger. Of course it was not a bad thing but this was different things that some early member seek for. In my opinion, aqua just want to do things she wanted without being restricted because back then that's what hololive is it and of course it was different now. In the end, it's the company fault? No. It's aqua fault? No. It's anyone fault? No. No one at all is fault at this decision. They just simply don't have the same opinion anymore like aqua is seeking of freedom doing things she wanted. Hololive seeking for more exposure for other talents to shine even more. So neither two of them was bad in this case

I can't remember back in 2021 but all I know is that this is like Kiryu Coco Graduation all over again. Aqua said she would Graduate meaning it's her choice she and Towa with Suisei support each other because that's what friends do. Towa thinks she wants to Quit but no I don't want that to happen she debuted in 2019 end of December. And she has to continue in order to make Coco Proud because she is watching above the skies soaring. And deep down we love Startend We Love Towa, Aqua, and Suisei

I think ultimately the disagreement between Aqua and management is the creativity control that is limiting on a lot of things she may want to do and because she got frustrated that she feel the best way to go about is to leave. Sasaki Saku from Nijisanji graduated in late 2018 and returned a couple of months later. She's still with them today. So it's not unprecedented for a major company to let their talents back in.
