Hey your videos are the best I've seen! Never Stop! Also planning on growing some cauliflower soon, do you think if I followed these steps for cabbage it'd still work out. Every other video I find on cauliflower just drags on and on giving me no information. All my other vegetables have been grown based off your guides :) please help lol, even if I have to tweak the process a little.
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the comment. The process for cauliflower from sowing to planting is pretty much same as cabbage. Once planted, feed with a balanced fertilizer (such as 5-5-5) instead of nitrogen rich fertilizer. Also you might need to provide some support for the plants as they grow. I hope this helps and best of luck to you.

These look so cute, like babies growing in pots!! I had trouble last year growing kale and kalettes, they got infested with cabbage white caterpillars which was unpleasant. I'm going to try again with a net, do you cover brassicas with nets? How do you deal with pests that target them?
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 жыл бұрын
Either netting or I use neem oil mix to prevent. If you see the caterpillars, use B.T. natural bacteria solution. In any cases the best is to monitor and control them at early stages. Sometime I get fooled by how great the leaves look, but when I check underneath, I see the eggs. So make sure to check both sides of the leaves. I might be wrong, but I have many birds in my backyard and I think they enjoy the caterpillar diet too🤷‍♂️. I hope this helps. Thanks again for visiting and happy gardening.😊

These videos are so helpful. Just wondering what you do with the soil after harvesting? Can you get the roots out and use of for something else?
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 жыл бұрын
So glad you found my videos helpful. Yes, you can reuse the old potting soil by removing old roots from the soil and add fresh compost (composted manure, garden compost,...) and/or general purpose organic fertilizer for a new potting soil. A ratio of 1/3 to 1/2 fresh compost to the mix will work. I will try to post a video on reusing old potting soil in future. Thank you very much for your comment!

Glad you love my videos. Depending on the condition you are sowing seeds, you need to adjust light, heat, and mainly watering. I have tried (and failed) many times to find the best way that works for me. If your seedlings die after germination, probably it is due to “damping-off,” a fungal disease. Try to sprinkle some baking soda around the seedlings (not too much) and do not over water them. I hope this helps. Thank you again for visiting and Good Luck!

I am not sure if I do anything special with the bags. I am guessing one reason that they don't get moldy is that I only water plants as needed and don't keep them soggy. Thank you very much for visiting!

The holes are usually done by caterpillars. You can either use B.T. (a natural bacteria) solution or spray neem oil mix. If you don't want to use any sprays, garden netting is a great option too. I hope this helps and thank you so much for your comment.

Glad you enjoyed it. For pest control, I check my plants regularly and spray neem oil mix or B.T. as I see the first signs of damage. If you do not want to use any sprays, garden netting is a great option to protect cabbages. @TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 жыл бұрын
For caterpillars, I use B.T. (a natural bacteria) solution. I get the best result when I monitor and control them at early stages. Sometime I get fooled by how great the leaves look, but when I check underneath, I see the eggs. For other pests I usually spray neem oil mix. Also, we have many visiting birds in our backyard and I think they enjoy the caterpillar diet too, but I am not sure. I hope this helps and thank you so much for your comment😊

@TowardGarden

The idea is to prevent and control. So you should start applying at first sings of infestation. For both I suggest to use every 2-3 days until gone. And it is better to make a new batch to be on the safe side. Thanks.

Hi I just watch quite a few of your awesome vids 👌 I just want to ask, is there a reason you start all of them off in trays and not sow directly? Would like to know if there is. Thanks! 😊
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. I found many benefits to starting seeds in trays: The growing media is more easier to control and manage. The temperature requirements, soil condition, light are few of them. I prefer this for vegetables that benefit from starting ahead and not for all my crops. I just share what works for me best but agree that you can sow directly many of the plants and get the same results. I hope this helps and thank you so much for your comment!

I have learned so much from your videos thank you so much for expounding your knowledge on this skill you are truly a blessing, God Bless You. I have a question when watering from the start of seedlings as well as watering in grow bags do you water your plants until the water comes out of the bottom of the bag?
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 9 ай бұрын
So glad found my videos helpful! For the seedlings, you just need to water so that the soil is moist, if it doesn't run off, that's ok too. or better if bottom water them- or you soak them in a tray of water. I will try to post a video on how to water seedlings soon. But for the grow bags, yes, water them deep so it come off from the bottom of the bag. Hope this helps and thank you so much for your comment!😊

If the weather is cool enough, leaves will regrow from stem left in soil. They may not mature to full size head, but you sure can use the tender leaves. The best is to start again from seed for a healthy mature heads. Thanks for visiting.
