Do you pinch/prune them at all during the seedling age before they flower ? They’re 4 weeks off the 90 day mark and arnt standing up strong. I’m wondering if they need some support to help stand or some pruning/pinching ?? Any tips?

How do you keep bugs off them
@TowardGarden4 күн бұрын
The pest control depends on the pest type. I have learned that the best is to monitor your plants and act with the first sign of pest presence. If you know for sure that bugs will show up in your garden, preventing is also critical. Spray your plants with neem oil mix amzn.to/4aErvHB or spinosad mix amzn.to/49KbWgh (both organic) weekly. You can also have other plants like flowers in your garden so bug will attack those instead of vegetables. Hope this helps and thank you so much for you r comment!

I noticed they are sitting on pallets. Is that important?
@TowardGarden4 күн бұрын
I usually use pallets to keep my garden organized and also to keep pots off the ground. I don't have a big garden and do most of my gardening in containers. These pallets are very helpful to arrange the containers and maintain the garden. Also, the grow bags sitting on the ground (concrete) don't drain water properly, so elevating them on a pallet works much better. I'd say it is important for me but can be totally optional in other gardens. Hope this answers your question and thank you for getting in touch!

Can you mention seed starting mistakes and solutions i 've been trying to grow lettuce but i fail many times i hope i can grow lettuce just like yours does lettuce seeds germinate on cold soil?
@TowardGarden4 күн бұрын
Good suggestion! I will try to make a video on seed germination. For lettuce, the seed age is very important. Germination rates drop rapidly in following years, so it is better to grow from fresh seeds each growing season. Also, the optimum soil temperature is 60-70ºF, so the soil shouldn't be too cold. And lastly, do not sow seeds too deep, cover seeds very lightly about 1/4". Keep trying and I am sure you will be able to grow beautiful lettuce soon. Happy gardening and thank you for visiting!

Will they just keep sprouting new peppers?
@TowardGarden8 күн бұрын
You can harvest fruits few times in the same growing season (for 2-3 weeks) until it gets too cold. And peppers are perennials, meaning they will grow next year, you can overwinter them for a fresh harvest next spring. Check my video here for details: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJ2zh3ehdtSagJYsi=BmYHqlpnJSfwAPHX . Thank you for your comment!

Will the basil plant last over winter if you bring it indoors?
@TowardGarden8 күн бұрын
Yes, you can bring them inside if you can provide ample light for them. But in my experience, usually basils grown to the next year will start producing smaller leaves and not as tender leaves and the first year, so it is better to start new seeds for next spring. Happy gardening and thank you so much for your comment!

Basil seedling season please????
@TowardGarden8 күн бұрын
For cold winters start May-June and for mild winters start Feb-July, or early fall. Plant basil outdoors only after nighttime temperatures stay above 50°F (10°C). You may start seeds indoor 2-3 weeks before transplanting outside. Thanks for visiting.

Hello. back with another question :D. i finally managed to make them sprout (i got different seeds wich worked great) problem is they are veeery leggy compared to yours when they sprout (very tall) and they don't develop futher leaves(just the first two set of leaves and a very long stem). what might be the problem? i keep them on a window sill so light should not be a problem. did i plant them not deep enough? just added a small layer of soil. is it over wattering? thank you for your help!
@TowardGarden13 күн бұрын
Leggy seedlings are most probably due to light. Window sill may not provide ample light, so you need to either use grow light or just expose them to 5-6 hours of early morning sunlight. And start fertilizing them lightly. For how to fertilize them check my video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3rImnVpZt54gNksi=Ll1-0CWVPFX9raFj&t=202 . When transplanting them, just plant them deeper to bury part of the stem. Hope your seedlings will thrive. Happy growing!

@TowardGarden20 күн бұрын
Probably either they are not getting enough light, they are very crowded, or you need to start fertilizing the soil. Move them to a place with more sunlight and start feeding them with water soluble fertilizers such as fish fertilizer. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting.

Hiya. I'm not a gardener in any sense of the word, but I stumbled on your videos and got so obsessed. I'm definitely going to start planting a few things in pots in my garden. I'm in Jamaica so I have to consider the humidity and different temps. I was just wondering what it is you use to keep "creepy crawlies" off of your plants. I don't mind them, but there are some people in my family with an intense phobia. Thanks in advance. (:
@TowardGarden20 күн бұрын
So glad to have you with us from Jamaica 🇯🇲 👋 Depending on the insect crawling on your plants you can use different methods to keep them away. But overall preventing is the best. I check my plants regularly and act with the first sign of any pest presence. For example for caterpillars or other worms, I use B.T. (a natural bacteria) solution. For other pests I usually spray neem oil mix or spinosad mix . If you don't want to use sprays, covering them with garden netting is a great option too. I have listed few items I use on my amazon page amzn.to/4efSBGv . Hope this helps. Happy gardening and thank you so much for your comment! 😊

You can moist a little the stalks and wrap celery in foil (not plastic wrap) and keep them in fridge drawer. Or you can cut stalks in pieces and freeze them for cooking. Thank you for visiting.

What a great channel. I usually shy away from KZbin and just read websites because I don't like long verbal explanations. I'm growing Rocket and some herbs from seed for the first time. Mine are about 2 weeks since planting and my plants look similar to yours. So that's good. Mine are in probably too small of pots. I have to move them around as I'm in the tropics and it's prone to sudden heavy downpours and scorching sun some days, year-round.

@TowardGarden24 күн бұрын
Most probably either they are not getting enough light, they are very crowded, or you need to start fertilizing the soil. Lettuce is a cold crop, so if outside is not super cold or freezing, you can move them to a place with more sunlight. When you want to prick them out or when planting, plant them a bit deeper to hide part of leggy stem. For how to fertilize them check my video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3rImnVpZt54gNksi=Ll1-0CWVPFX9raFj&t=202 Happy growing!

My fruit doesn't get large. I don't know what I should do
@TowardGarden24 күн бұрын
It is hard to tell without seeing it. It can be because of many reasons: soil doesn't provide nutrients and needs to be fertilized, the weather is very cold or very hot, or some sort of disease. If plants look healthy and have good green leaves, most probably you need to fertilize them more often. You can use any vegetable or tomato fertilizers available. Also, if you are using just garden soil in your pots, you might need to add compost to make it less compact. Hope you will be able to harvest larger fruits. Thanks for visiting.
