just plant the seeds in the flat saves the stress of transplanting.

At week 5 when the seedlings are ready to be moved, is it okay to use fertilizer instead of compost? Or do I need to use compost for growth?

Yes you can do that too. check my video here where I show how to fertilize seedlings if you want to keep them in a seed starting mix: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3rImnVpZt54gNksi=DXBZskS_HGTYCmbg . Thanks for getting in touch!

I put too many seeds in one container. My first gardening experience . Now what?
@TowardGarden6 сағат бұрын
Watermelon seedlings don't like to be separated, their roots are very sensitive. If they are very young and if you are very careful, you might be able to separate them into different pots, but I recommend to just select one ig healthy seedling and cut the rest. One seedlings per pot. If you need more plants, just sow one seed in each pot. Hope this helps and happy growing!

How do you keep bugs and animals away?
@TowardGarden6 сағат бұрын
It really depends on the pest and animal type. For animals, I mainly rely on my dog, he is a great help. For pests, the best is to prevent. I regularly check my plants and with the first sign of pest presence, I act depending on the pest type. But usually neem oil mix and Spinosad mix is my first choice. They work great for me. If the plants don't need pollination to set fruit, such as lettuce or cabbage, garden netting provides a good protection. Hope this helps and thank you so much for your comment!

Great video! Is it too hot to start sowing chives seed if the temperature is already above 80-90°F?
@TowardGardenКүн бұрын
Although chives prefer cool weathers, they grow quicker in warm weathers and if you keep them in part shade you can harvest leaves for a while. If you see they start flowering very early, snip off the flowers to extend harvesting time. Happy growing and thank you so much for your comment!

Cover me in Caesar dressing, sprinkle on some parmesan and I'll dive right in. Yum. For the first time this year I tried lettuce from seed. I went for the little baby gem. It's been 30 days and the going is slow. Maybe I should have gone with the plain romaine. Again... Thanks for the videos. They're great.
@TowardGardenКүн бұрын
I have grown baby gem and they are good option too, not sure why they are growing slow🤔 usually it happens if it is cold. And that Cesar salad recipe is exactly what we do with our romaine lettuce 😋. happy growing and thank you so much for your comment!

I love it. I buy small starter plants of Moroccan mint which is spearmint, I think. When it begins to flower and I pinch out the leaves, I get the dreaded "stiff stem". Am I the only one that hates the "stiff stem"? I have to tell you that your videos mesmerize me. They're great!!! Next year I'll try from seed.

New sub here. Love this channel! How many tomatoes on average were produced on 1 plant? I was trying to count but was hoping the you could give a more accurate number.
@TowardGardenКүн бұрын
So glad you love the channel. The number of fruits will defer from season to season and plant to plant. But in average you can get 20-25 per plant in a span of 3-4 weeks. Welcome to the channel and thank you so much for your comment!😊

Believe it or not... I just created an account with Google for the express purpose of liking and responding to your video. It is my first year experimenting with marigold seeds and to date I am having some success. It is not an operation like yours. I am dealing with a small number of seedlings planted in eggshell cartons and transplanted into small pots. They'll be moved to my 4th floor urban balcony once they mature a bit. I just bit the bullet and pinched off the first buds on two of my seedlings. So sorry to go on like this but I love, love, loved your video. Again... Thanks.

Depending on what you want to grow there are many choices. Most of herbs will grow in a in gallon pot. For vegetables, try to look for dwarf varieties. For examples this mini tomato is perfect for one gallon pot www.rareseeds.com/tomato-orange-hat . Hope this helps and thank you for visiting.

I am lucky enough to not have many problems with squash vine borer. But the best is to prevent borers from laying eggs. Barriers such as covering lower stems with aluminum foils helps. I hope you will have a better experience with SVB and thank you for your comment!

Lol, black thump is what gardening needs 😄 I have a video on how I make my potting soil with all ingredients shown kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpXMap6teqaSjpIsi=pmN1jV4BEWjjl_Fx . Most of them are from Home depot. For fertilizer, any tomato fertilizer will work, here are my favorites: www.homedepot.com/p/Vigoro-12-lbs-Organic-Tomato-and-Vegetable-Plant-Food-OMRI-Listed-4-6-5-P0004/327058387 , www.homedepot.com/p/Espoma-Garden-Tone-8-lb-Organic-Herb-and-Vegetable-Fertilizer-3-4-4-100047170/203148053 . For compost, the Kelloggs Garden soil or Amend both are great choices. Hope this helps and thank you so much for getting in touch!
