My my back hurts even thinking about riding in that beautiful cab over. She is pretty though. Us youngsters couldn't even handle taking her around the block let alone on a cross country road trip. Thank you all for restoring her and thank you for sharing. She is the true definition of man's truck, beautiful and rugged.

Walking beams: teeth chattering, liver quivering with [ wait for it ], solid cab mounts. Wish today's youth had a chance to drive a real mans truck! This is what separated the men from the boys!!!

@@towbar1965 I spent 12 years in a lowboy truck in N. Idaho mainly hauling heavy logging equipment in the woods, 2years in a log truck. All the trucks I drove had the Hendrickson 46k walking beam suspensions. The ability to keep all 4 corners on the ground and maintain traction was awesome in all 4 seasons. A good mechanic can rebush and rebiscuit a suspension in about a typical work day. They were rougher than hell, but you were going around the [ air bag boys ] when they were spun out and laid over in a supered woods road corner! I'm in a airbag chip truck now, sure glad !!!!!!

Absolutely. Easy to slap some bling on but to keep the 2 piece is awesome. Haven’t seen new 10/22’s in a good while

Why front brakes were optional and not standard equipment?
@towbar19654 жыл бұрын
good ol days mabe
@jeremymick43373 жыл бұрын
At the time they felt front brakes were dangerous in bad weather with no power steering. Later they started adding front brakes and a switch on the dash was added to turn them off in adverse conditions. Also remember in the 1960s most trucks were not grossing 80,000 lbs.

WITH OUT HAVING ANY FRONT BRAKES I UNDERSTAND HOW AND WHY THE SIXTIES AND SEVENTIES SEEN SO MANY HEAVY TRUCK CRASHES TODAY THERE IS NO WAY THAT TRUCK WOULD PASS INSPECTION FOR COMMERCIAL USAGE I WOULD ASSUME EVERY BRAND OF HEAVY TRUCK DURING THAT PERIOD OF TIME WOULD ALSO NOT HAVE FRONT BRAKES WHICH MAKES THE THOUGHT OF DRIVING BACK THEN VERY SCARY FOR BOTH THE DRIVER OF THAT TRUCK AND ANY CARS THAT HAPPEN TO BE NEAR THAT TRUCK IF IT CRASHED
@towbar19654 жыл бұрын
truckers from then are still leagel. just like cars from the 60s had no set belts

That truck will pass an inspection all day long. My 1964 kenworth doesn't have front breaks and I still work that truck.
