Tower of London 🏰, revealing the dark history and its interiors

From fortress to armory, prison and attraction, the Tower of London is one of the most visited monuments in the city and a symbol of England.
Its history begins with the invasion of the Normans in 1066. It was built on pre-existing fortifications that were part of the wall of the Roman city, Londinium. Since its construction, the Tower of London has been extended several times, although the layout remained until Edward I completed the fortress-palace in 1285.
Inside the Tower of London there are several important structures. The White Tower is the oldest and most emblematic, with its thick walls and sharp battlements. Inside you will find the Tower History Museum, which houses a collection of arms and armor, including the magnificent armor of Henry VIII and Charles I of England.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the Tower of London is its function as a prison for the British Crown. For several centuries, the tower was used as a high-security prison for high-ranking figures such as Anne Boleyn, Jane Grey, Catherine Howard and others.
Today, the Tower of London houses the British Crown Jewels and is a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can enjoy guided tours given by the Beefeaters that allow them to explore the interiors and learn about its fascinating history.

Como curiosidad: en 2012, un intruso irrumpió en la Torre de Londres y se llevó un juego de llaves. Por suerte, las llaves no eran demasiado importantes. Sólo se robaron las llaves del restaurante, de las salas de conferencias y de una cerradura interna de los puentes levadizos. Los Beefeaters cambiaron rápidamente las cerraduras.😉

Aquí va otra👉La primera persona encarcelada en la Torre de Londres fue de John Gerard, pero también fue el primero en escapar de la misma😂. ¿Su crimen? Era un sacerdote católico en un país protestante.😉
