I know they have the "internal question," but I have my own question. WHY IS THIS BAND NOT IN THE ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME". That is my internal question. Who is "HIP" to that?

Like Groucho said....I don't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member.......I would consider it a badge of honor not to be associated with that HOF bunch of pay to play phony hypocrites.

Has Garibaldi changed his style up a bit, or are they just mixing him differently?
@andrewgillis85726 жыл бұрын
Pickett, CT, Rocco and Garibaldi are way up there - IMO the most important players in soul music outside of the JB Parliament and Sly bands - close behind rhythm sections at Motown, King Curtis and/or Muscle Shoals house bands IMO - and the horn section including Pickett was the best in the business, period, lest one count EW&F which i consider a half-section sound
@Baribrotzer5 жыл бұрын
".....lest one count EW&F which i consider a half-section sound...." Why do you consider it that? EW&F had a five-piece section, too, just a different instrumentation - Andrew Woolfolk mostly on alto, plus two trumpets, trombone, and tenor. For that matter, TOP lacks/lacked an alto or a trombone - yes, Lenny (and Tom P.) can play alto, and Mic Gillette could play trombone, but usually they don't/didn't. The alto might not be needed except for solos, but you can hear the lack of a trombone's warmth in the standard TOP sound.

@@dgano I became friendly with Rocco in the early 80's after he returned to the band. My friend Ray and I that is. We are east coast and when they came we'd always visit with Rocco.He was just a regular... great guy. We flew out to the 50th and in fact I standing wasn't far behind you at that show at the FOX. We attended both shows as guests of the band and it was the pinnacle for us after following then for 35 years The sound just won't be the same without him.
